The August issue of AECT features an article on levels of Hg and other trace elements in tissues of wolverines from northern Canada. Mercury levels were generally highest in the kidney. However, Hg, Cd, Pb and Se concentrations are not a risk to these animals.

The Feb. 2024 issue features an article describing a study of effects of pesticide exposure on the consumption of prey by giant water bugs
& dragonfly larvae. It showed that exposure to fipronil and 2,4-D can alter the predator-prey interactions within aquatic invertebrates".

In an article in the Jan 2024 issue, authors showed induction of p-glycoprotein in rainbow trout did not alter the toxicokinetics of the anti-parasitic compound, ivermectin, which is not consistent with the effect of induction of this protein on xenobiotic kinetics in mammals".

Our Nov. issue includes an article on levels of toxic & essential metals in the Indian food basket. This study showed that concentrations of Cd,Pb,Ni in some vegetables were greater than permissible limits of the FAO/WHO & posed a risk to the health of consumers in India. Link 👇
