The front page of tomorrow's @dailytarheel –
I shed many tears while typing up these heart-wrenching text messages sent and received by UNC students yesterday. Our campus was on lockdown for more than three hours.
Beyond proud of this cover and the team behind it.

@LeahLitman @taylorswift13 Same concert, also
Covid. Feel better soon!

@dulcinema @JasonKander @dianakander Sounds trivial but having friends send meals really helped- it was one less thing to worry about, especially if fatigue is an issue. If it is, taking other chores off her plate is helpful- whether childcare or household stuff. Wishing your friend all the best!!

@JasonKander @dianakander Jason. My dearest lifelong friend is beginning radiation after breast cancer surgery. From your supporter's perspective, any advice RE how I might best help her through this?
English

It’s fantastic that @DianaKander has completed her radiation treatments.
However, I can’t say I’m excited about the overnight thermostat timer returning to the broil setting.

@kdurquiza @MarkedByCovid @evansinmiddle @nbcsnl I will never forget the nurse who helped my scared and isolated dad call me hours before he died of Covid in January 2021. Because of that nurse’s kindness the last words my dad said to me were “I love you.”
English

@evansinmiddle @nbcsnl To all the nurses that held their hands, including the nurse who held my fathers, thank you.

@Bob_Wachter @DrLeanaWen What I struggle with is saying there are no bad decisions on masking ignores the fact that an individual choosing not to mask can negatively impact others, which seems by definition a bad decision.
English

A legitimately tough call — if I had school kids, I’d keep masks on until case rates were lower, but @DrLeanaWen’s reasoning is sound & I totally respect this call. I agree there are no wrong decisions on masking now — it’s about how one weights risks, incl. some uncertain ones.

Many on Twitter have asked--how did I go from being extremely cautious with #covid19 precautions for nearly two years to now resuming pre-pandemic activities, including not masking my young kids at school? I explain in this @postopinions column 🧵: washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/…
