Issa Diop wants to be known as a French player, even if he's never selected with France NT.
He does not really want to be selected by France, he does not want his name associated with a African team, ie: reduce his market valuation.
That's hypocritical PR move as well.

Algeria won the Africa Cup of Nations with Baghdad Bounedjah, Youcef Belaili, Djamel Benlamri and Rais M'Bolhi in the starting XI, all 4 who played in Qatar or Saudi Arabia, but you still have Algerians who think players who play in Qatar should not start for us 🤦♂️
