re Jolly: Since 2002 only 32yo ruckmen to play 18+ games in a season are Everitt, Lade & Hudson (3 of 100+). Clubs got this one right.

There are 49 current 200-game players on AFL lists. Of those, 44 were recruited via National Draft (inc. 3 Father-Sons). Only 5 rookies.

St Kilda has had 44 senior coaches in club history but only one has lasted longer than six years at the helm (Allan Jeans, 16).

Despite the timing it's the right move by Saints. Similar to Neeld admit the mistake, pay out, move on. It clearly wasn't working.

After this year's Draft, GWS will have had 19 of the 45 picks in top-15 of past 3 Drafts. Bris (4) next most.

Excluding expansion teams, Brisbane in 2013 will be only the second team ever to have 6 top-35 picks in a draft (Sydney 1996 the other).

Crows have Walker, Johnston, Jenkins & Lynch up forward which I think has potential as a group. Pods.... Where does he fit in if not depth?

Good job by Saints. McEvoy had reached his potential, competitive & hard/working but Longer could be a top ruckman in 5 years.

Can't underestimate value of player retention. Lions lost 5 players this trade period and got unders for each. Will hurt down the track.

Of the 24 players to be traded last year, only one (Angus Monfries) played over 20 games in 2013... 14/24 played 10 or fewer.

Somehow GWS get involved and get pick #14 in the Polec trade. Regardless of concessions they have always been smart at trade table.

Great job by Essendon to accept the pick that was on offer a month ago.
