There isn’t a ‘plastic paddy’ planet.

In other words, the children of Irish-born parents who migrated will always feel to the ‘Irish’ as liminal and therefore unaccepted. Diluted Irish. Even though they are 100% Irish in their DNA.

I never thought I’d say, esp as think Cillian Murphy is a brilliant actor. But in his speech he said it was a proud moment for being Irish-born. I have always been proud of being born to Irish parents. No matter where I was born. #second-genIrish.

Acc. to statistics children born of Irish parents (no matter country of birth) will die younger than their Irish parents, defying demographic odds. They don’t die of Irish blood, or McDonalds. No one knows why. Perhaps it is the huge anxiety of their parents’ migration?

Look who turned up on my decking this afternoon.

Had the most fantastic time in #Frome Somerset last weekend. Saw #SpearofDestiny live at the #CheeseandGrain. And met one of my punk heroes. Kirk Brandon. Of Spear of Destiny/Theatre of Hate. Even our t-shirts chimed.

May is #Lymedisease awareness month. I wrote my novel #Anatomised to highlight the personal challenges of contracting the disease, and the professional pitfalls of diagnosing it. In reality, a mountain of misdiagnoses! If you are living with #Lyme, you have my total empathy.

I believe in equality, democracy, freedom of belief, but will watch coronation, even though it’s the embodiment of unelected hierarchy. After all, if #NickCave is attending, it would be rude to opt out. I was a medieval historian, so the anachronism of this pageantry is painful.

I am alive. And, I am making music.
