Officers faced obstruction from a group of riders attempting to interfere with their duties during a routine patrol. The incident began when TMPD officers stopped a delivery motorbike for inspection. The rider, a Ugandan national, fled the scene, leading to a pursuit that ended at the intersection of Visagie Street and Prince's Park Avenue. Around 40 motorbike riders then arrived and deliberately blocked the road to prevent officers from proceeding. Backup was called, and inspections revealed that most of the motorbikes were unroadworthy. Some riders fled to avoid checks on their immigration status. No arrests were specified in the incident details. Chief of Police Commissioner YCR Faro stressed that TMPD remains committed to enforcing the law and protecting the safety of residents and road users in Tshwane.
