March 13th, Contra Costa Community College District’s Board voting on the resolution laying off 9 employees, while administrators continue to get their built in 8% COLAs. Local 1 Members and Leaders arrived demanding accountability. The resolution unfortunately passed.

Members leaders from our AFSCME Local 1 chapters participated in our PEOPLE convention last weekend and lobbied politicians at the state capitol.

Serving on the Executive Board of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal (AFSCME Local 2703) is both an honor and a responsibility. We recently had the opportunity to attend the AFSCME Executive Board Training on February 21, 2026.

When snow and ice hit hard, AFSCME members work harder, clearing roads, restoring power, and keeping us safe. Let's give them the thanks they deserve.
