@GroBmisconduct2 It’s inevitable isn’t it. Big game for Brighton = bottle job. As sure as night follows day.

All very well laughing at how bad Vallecano were, but if that was us I categorically promise you we’d have found a way to bottle it

I think part of the reason the Boomers don't understand the Gen Z demoralization on society and the economy, is that generally, Boomers believe you suffer now, and it gets better later. Gen Z believes they are suffering now, and it won't get better later.

@SidKhurana3607 One of my hottest takes is that the “soccer is the world’s most popular sport” narrative is a prime example of insidious Eurocentrism. I’m not denying soccer is the most popular sport among the most people, but I am saying the *narrative* about its popularity is problematic.

@27Muzza @AgentKevLee @OlIyCFC Of course it does! If Chelsea give a club £100M for a player, they then have £100M to spend on other players! And the only reason Brentford/Bournemouth can attract those players is because they want to eventually be signed by clubs like Chelsea, for the wages. It’s so simple

@AFeverDream_ @AgentKevLee @OlIyCFC ??? Chelsea spending like crazy doesn’t facilitate smaller clubs spending crazy, it just puts more pressure on the market as a whole if that’s what you mean. The OG post was more commentary on the ABILITY of teams like Brentford to snatch foreign talents from bigger clubs

Brentford should not be able to spend £40m on a 19 year old from Bundesliga, it’s absolutely ridiculous. The competitive balance of European football is totally destroyed.
Florian Plettenberg@Plettigoal

🚨🆕 Brentford have submitted an offer worth €45m (€40m fixed + €5m add-ons) to 1. FC Köln for Said El Mala. Köln have not responded yet. They still want at least €50m, after @AxelHesse1. Confirmed. #Effzeh El Mala has not yet agreed terms with Brentford. The player first wants the clubs to negotiate. @SkySportDE 🇩🇪

@27Muzza @AgentKevLee @OlIyCFC What the fuck are you on about? I’ve literally just said that it’s clubs like Chelsea flooding the PL market with insane amounts of money that has given the mid-table teams so much buying power.

@AFeverDream_ @AgentKevLee @OlIyCFC 😭? You make no sense. When prem clubs have for years been buying up scraps for insane prices and thereby breaking the market, you expect clubs to deny crazy bids for their players? Especially when they’re considerably less wealthy?

@7Zark7BftP @OlIyCFC Then maybe he should advocate for his club and the other big six clubs to stop funding the Brentfords/Bournemouths/Brightons of the world by buying all of their best players. Or alternatively they could just drop the act and ask their clubs to set up the European Super League.

@AFeverDream_ @OlIyCFC Brentford are a pissant club with a tiny stadium and very little support. They are the perfect example of what is wrong … if even Brentford are out there throwing money around then the game is out of kilter is exactly the point the guy is making.

@AgentKevLee @OlIyCFC And I’m pointing out how absurd it is to be fine with giving these clubs £70, 80 million for their players on one hand and then complain that they’re able to spend that amount money on the other. This is their own fault.

@AFeverDream_ @OlIyCFC Because Brentford a tiny little bus stop in Hounslow and the writer is clearly pointing out how absurd it is that they can now outspent every club in the world outside the Premier League with the exception of about half a dozen clubs

@OlIyCFC Your point is that the competitive balance in European Football has gone. That’s fine, I agree with that. My point is that I don’t understand why you’ve used a story about Brentford spending money to illustrate that, when clubs like yours cause this in the first place.

@OlIyCFC Then talk about Chelsea’s transfer activity rather than Brentford’s. You’ve enjoyed winning all those trophies. The Champions Leagues, the Premier Leagues, the cups. You’ve enjoyed your hegemony at the top of European football. This is the price you pay. Your club did this.

@OlIyCFC No it is a good point, because it’s meant to illustrate that you’re the problem. Nobody else. And why would a player like El Mala choose to come here to Brentford rather than Milan? Because again, it makes it more likely that a club like you will buy him eventually.

@OlIyCFC Then rather than complaining about Brentford, why don’t you advocate for Chelsea to give Milan some of their money rather than spending another £1 billion on players?

A common response to this tweet seems to think I’m complaining about the competitive balance in England, despite clearly stating it’s about European football. I don’t care about the gap between Chelsea and Brentford, I do care that historic European clubs are comparatively broke
i@AFeverDream_

@Harry_Sagan @freelander97 It’s not incomprehensible. They just don’t like it because, as far as they’re concerned, they’re the only ones entitled to spend money and buy better players, because they’re ’big clubs’, and everyone else needs to know their place.
