@dev_maims It just works. I started learning to code on windows and as soon as I switched to a Mac everything simply worked. Could’ve definitely been a skill issue but the flow on Macs simply makes sense to me.

What is the reason behind MacBook popularity among engineers?

@dev_maims Did you mean MacBook or MacBook Pro? Because I don't know many engineers who use a MacBook for programming. MacBook is also not on the market anymore. The MacBook Neo is cute, but it has way too little RAM.

@CapitalOne, by moving to Discover, you really screwed every Costco member. And I think that's a large number.

@gabrielchua @OpenAIDevs Nobody has the time to constantly switch models. I used to do it with #Augment but that things crashed more than it worked. So sticking to Claude Code for now, until that fails me...

Now with `gpt-5.4-mini` and `nano` out, I put together a simple cheat sheet of the latest OpenAI models by use case. Noticed at a few recent hackathons & meetups: some folks still default to `gpt-4o-mini` for LLMs and `whisper-1` for transcription. Newer options tend to fit better now with much better performance. If you’re running into issues switching, lmk!

Using @Zoom Phone lasted about 30 minutes, after which I'm canceling the account. I set up my greeting in several places, that I couldn't use. Theb you can't contact #support and the AI chat doesn't rout you to a human. If I provided a service like this I'd be out of business. #majorfail

@jack @blocks Great, more entrepreneurs to come! Looking forward to it. Wonder how much Jack Dorsey takes home cause he will lose it all, soon.

we're making @blocks smaller today. here's my note to the company. #### today we're making one of the hardest decisions in the history of our company: we're reducing our organization by nearly half, from over 10,000 people to just under 6,000. that means over 4,000 of you are being asked to leave or entering into consultation. i'll be straight about what's happening, why, and what it means for everyone. first off, if you're one of the people affected, you'll receive your salary for 20 weeks + 1 week per year of tenure, equity vested through the end of may, 6 months of health care, your corporate devices, and $5,000 to put toward whatever you need to help you in this transition (if you’re outside the U.S. you’ll receive similar support but exact details are going to vary based on local requirements). i want you to know that before anything else. everyone will be notified today, whether you're being asked to leave, entering consultation, or asked to stay. we're not making this decision because we're in trouble. our business is strong. gross profit continues to grow, we continue to serve more and more customers, and profitability is improving. but something has changed. we're already seeing that the intelligence tools we’re creating and using, paired with smaller and flatter teams, are enabling a new way of working which fundamentally changes what it means to build and run a company. and that's accelerating rapidly. i had two options: cut gradually over months or years as this shift plays out, or be honest about where we are and act on it now. i chose the latter. repeated rounds of cuts are destructive to morale, to focus, and to the trust that customers and shareholders place in our ability to lead. i'd rather take a hard, clear action now and build from a position we believe in than manage a slow reduction of people toward the same outcome. a smaller company also gives us the space to grow our business the right way, on our own terms, instead of constantly reacting to market pressures. a decision at this scale carries risk. but so does standing still. we've done a full review to determine the roles and people we require to reliably grow the business from here, and we've pressure-tested those decisions from multiple angles. i accept that we may have gotten some of them wrong, and we've built in flexibility to account for that, and do the right thing for our customers. we're not going to just disappear people from slack and email and pretend they were never here. communication channels will stay open through thursday evening (pacific) so everyone can say goodbye properly, and share whatever you wish. i'll also be hosting a live video session to thank everyone at 3:35pm pacific. i know doing it this way might feel awkward. i'd rather it feel awkward and human than efficient and cold. to those of you leaving…i’m grateful for you, and i’m sorry to put you through this. you built what this company is today. that's a fact that i'll honor forever. this decision is not a reflection of what you contributed. you will be a great contributor to any organization going forward. to those staying…i made this decision, and i'll own it. what i'm asking of you is to build with me. we're going to build this company with intelligence at the core of everything we do. how we work, how we create, how we serve our customers. our customers will feel this shift too, and we're going to help them navigate it: towards a future where they can build their own features directly, composed of our capabilities and served through our interfaces. that's what i'm focused on now. expect a note from me tomorrow. jack

US visa denied under 214(b). Reason - weak ties to India 🇮🇳 Irony I run a company in India, employ people in India, pay taxes in India and have built everything here over the last 13 years. Apparently that is not enough proof that I’ll return to India. I’m more committed to India than your process is to logic. Mr @USAmbIndia and team, if this is your bar, either your definition of intent is broken or your evaluation process needs serious review. Train your New Delhi consulate teams better. PS: They check social media too now. A friend said next time just delete your tweets on the US and NRIs before the interview and your visa gets approved.

My brother was rejected firdt time, too. The problem is not you: the problem is with the American people who imported your countrymen by the millions to replace American workers and outsourced a great deal of the American workforce to India. You are just paying the price. It's unfair, I know. Not any different as me growing up without seafood and in socialism because Franz Ferdinand was shot on Hungarian land and the Versailles pact decided Hungary should be chopped up and we ended up with 1/5th of our land. Don't pay attention to the idiotic replies to your post. You have every right to be unhappy. It just sadly won't solve a thing. Just wait and resubmit it. You'll get a different person, maybe they will read your paperwork after lunch and they will approve you. It's that random.

@jasveer10 So what? No one has a RIGHT to ANY visa. Your arrogance and contempt for America should be enough reason to keep you in your far superior country.

Clearly you never read history. Please start at Mesopotamia and go from there. History didn't start at Germany. And what you learned about Germany in the US isn't even the truth. You're constantly fed propaganda and you eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And maybe you wake up one day, maybe you won't. But you are certainly under informed.

@DrMarthaGulati @washingtonpost No, so right. You swear to withhold the law. Immigration is a process. If you think illegals should stay yiu should take them home. Because it's the same thing. You should feed them not the rest of the country who didn't choose to.
