@MaxROIFarmer Shark Tooth Wheels so they don’t wrap and down force on the units to get aggressive and move the biomass is important. If unit floats and allows material behind wheels then it becomes a problem.

@MaxROIFarmer No specific data to share, but a lot of experience w/ and w/o. Consistent seed depth, seed-to-soil contact, and a good growing environment are key principles for planting regardless of type of system. I have never seen a yield gain by not using res mgrs. Correct RM matters.

It’s no secret I’ve not been a fan of covers or fall stripping. I challenged myself hard over the past year to learn more about this system. With what I saw today, I can say I’ve NEVER been more wrong. We achieved our goal, beautiful strips to plant on with covers in between. Still a long way to go, but I love what I’m seeing so far. Shoutout to a fantastic job by @YetterFarmEquip strip freshner. And thank you @WiBeanBag @Diversified_Ag for staying on me to push harder and learn more. This is beautiful. @StripTillFarmr

It’s our first Thursday Take, a new online series and just one more resource in our Yetter Solutions Center! In January, at the @YoungblutAg winter grower meeting, Andy Thompson joined Pete to help growers start planning for the unique challenges our industry is facing in 2026 and beyond. To watch the full first clip from this session, head to our YouTube page: youtube.com/watch?v=oVH4GV… #yetterfarmequip

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to speak about strip till at Youngblut Ag’s winter meeting recently. They are doing great things to bring information and equipment to farms in their area about managing residue and creating the seedbed.

Territory Rep. Andy Thompson presented at the winter grower meeting for @YoungblutAg in Dysart, IA last month. Here is a snippet of his discussion... Keep checking back on our socials and YouTube channel as we intend to do a video series on other aspects of this presentation!

@DozzzzzEric @gavin_spoor We do 50 units of liquid with strip freshener right ahead of planter. Side dress remainder with coulters @ V4 or so.

@gavin_spoor Dude im struggling on 20" corn on corn. No-till. This what I do lay dry down up front with spreader and 70 units of N with humic or a stabilizer with streamer bars, sidedress with 130 of urea and super u and ams. It works, its wasteful. Gonna try some different things this yr

For those who no till corn on corn What is your nitrogen program? Would think it’d be difficult to sidedress with a coulter or Y-drop machine?

@zebulousprime @YetterFarmEquip Mine seems to look a little different than yours. Not as flat as a table. Last 2 years stalks were certainly drier than most other years which makes a difference. We run head about 14” high and 23 degrees. Our stalks are probably sticking up just as high as some w/o Devastator.

@YetterFarmEquip Devestators are a carbon exporting product. No comb, no carbon catch. Who wants mine? 3408 CIH corn head kit. Tornado slide on in to the dms.

Harvested 3 weeks ago. Ran yetter devastators on cornhead. This corn was fun to shell. But mercy sakes it’s an Absolute mat of residue!

@NicoleStecklein @TToftoy Hindsight is 20/20 & I’m quite a bit south of CR, but this makes me feel like I should’ve known we needed two rounds of fungicide this year. Still though, I would like to compare some practices to see if some of these yield losses are reduced by pop, spacing, residue, etc.

@AGandythompson @TToftoy Oooooo I love this!! This is ambient air temp and doesn’t reflect what temp would be in canopy. Looked into soil temp. Here are the graphs for June-August 2024 vs 2025 😳 4 inch soil temp

We had 15 nights during grain fill stay above 70 degrees. Rule of thumb has been 1% loss per night. If you had 300 bu to lose at tassel, the overnight temps brought you to 255 by itself.

@FoulkShay A strip freshener pass ahead of planter to apply that 32% sure would work nicely.

30 inch and 7 1/2 inch spacing line up really nicely. I am guessing that all four rows of oats will be visible and thriving again in a week or so, despite some damage from the planter unit today. We’ve had a good run, and hoping for some good rain.

Strip till and cover crops for pumpkins? Of course. Same principles we see apply to corn and soybeans. Well, except that the armor on the soil also makes a nice bed for the pumpkins to lay on. striptillfarmer.com/articles/6287-…

@bandedagllc Now just need to test to see if depth of that strip matters. Much easier, faster, and cheaper if that strip only manages residue is as deep as seeding depth. My experience has been very favorable to shallower.

Interesting enough, beans ain’t that big on fall banded fertilizer either: Stripped NO Fertilizer: 98.42bu/ac Stripped w/ Fertilizer: 100.22bu/ac This was average of 4 replicated trials with and without fertilizer but ALL 30” rows were stripped last fall. I will be happy to send individual reps if requested but nothing earth shattering in any of them….
