INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION PRESS STATEMENT RESUMPTION OF NATIONWIDE CONTINUOUS VOTER REGISTRATION (CVR) FOR FINAL PHASE The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wishes to inform the general public that the current nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will resume for its third and final phase on Monday, 11th May 2026. It may be recalled that the second phase of the exercise was suspended on 17th April 2026 to allow the Commission clean up the register after its publication for claims and objections by registrants. The third phase of the CVR, which begins on Monday, 11th May 2026, will end on Friday, 10th July 2026. During this period, eligible citizens who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who were unable to register during the earlier phases, should seize this opportunity to do so. Similarly, registered voters who wish to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct their biodata, are advised to access the Commission’s dedicated online portal at cvr.inecnigeria.org or visit INEC State and Local Government Area offices nationwide. In continuation of the process, the Commission will display the Register of Voters for claims and objections from Thursday, 23rd July to Wednesday, 29th July 2026. This statutory exercise provides an important opportunity for citizens to scrutinise the register and assist the Commission in ensuring its accuracy, completeness and credibility. The Commission reassures Nigerians that all necessary arrangements have been concluded for the smooth conduct of the exercise. We once again appeal to all eligible citizens to present themselves for registration and to play their part in strengthening the foundation of our electoral process. Mohammed Kudu Haruna Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee 5th May 2026

BREAKING: Governor Hope Uzodimma's rumoured Senate Presidency ambition crumbles as the Senate has today amended its standing orders to restrict eligibility for the office of Senate President to members of the 10th Senate. The decision followed a marathon closed-door session on Tuesday, after which lawmakers agreed on new criteria aimed at reinforcing parliamentary hierarchy and experience. Under the revised rules, only senators who have served two terms will be eligible to contest for principal offices, and one of the two terms must be the immediate term preceding the nomination, effectively narrowing the field of contenders. By implication, only senators currently serving in the 10th Senate who secure re-election into the 11th Senate will qualify to vie for the Senate presidency and other principal positions.

There is growing tension around how Nigerians are treated in South Africa, and it raises serious questions about respect and reciprocity between African nations. Every country has a duty to protect its citizens, both at home and abroad. As Adams Oshiomhole rightly said: “When black South Africans say Nigerians are taking their jobs, Nigerians can come back home and take over the jobs of MTN. When we hit back, the President of South Africa will not only talk, he will go on his knees and recognize that Nigeria cannot be intimidated.” Strong words, but beyond the emotion, Nigeria must respond with strategy, not just reaction. Protection of citizens should be backed by policy, diplomacy, and economic strength. Breaking News (Unverified Reports): Claims circulating online allege that the President of Samia Suluhu Hassan has issued a 48 hour ultimatum for South African citizens to leave Tanzania, alongside suspending air and maritime trade with South Africa. The reports link this action to rising xenophobic attacks in South Africa. However, these claims are not confirmed by credible news sources, so they should be treated with caution. If such a situation were true, it would suggest a government taking a firm stand to protect its people. Nigeria must also prioritize the safety and dignity of its citizens abroad. However, responses should be strategic, not emotional. Diplomatic pressure should come first, demanding accountability and protection for Nigerians. At the same time, contingency plans should be in place to support or evacuate citizens if necessary. Blanket bans on foreign companies may sound strong, but they can harm Nigeria’s economy. A balanced approach is what truly protects national interest. The truth about Peter Obi’s followers is that their support appears organic and driven by personal conviction rather than political structure or financial incentives. Many of them are young Nigerians who are frustrated with the old system and are searching for accountability, transparency, and competence in leadership. Their engagement is visible across social media and grassroots conversations, where they actively promote ideas, policies, and civic responsibility. This kind of loyalty is not forced it grows from belief. However, organic support alone is not enough. It must be translated into strategy, structure, and consistent political participation to create real electoral impact.

Weapons depot belonging to terrorists, discovered in Mali by FAMA and their Africa corpse partners. The terrorists were nowhere to be found - dead or on the run. In Nigeria, it is terrorists who make videos like this whenever they overrun weapons depot belonging to the Nigerian military. And there are many such videos
