Elon has 'learned' that he isn't going to show the competition where they are at until they are years ahead imo. Totally feel the same way though as you both. Robotaxi, I think, has wayyyyyyy more 9's than they anticipated imo to make it generalized and safe. FWIW, just today, I was driving FSD 14 and there was a guy in front of me who walked out to shovel the end of his driveway (perpendicular to the road I was driving) which was basically in the street. He walked to the end of the driveway into the street and obviously was going to turn around back towards his driveway to shovel but my car slowed down bc that is a very hard decision to make as he walked a foot into a narrow street. I 'had' to take over so i didn't hold up traffic. The tesla wasn't going to kill him or hit him, but if i was a passenger with no driver, I would've been pissed and confused that it slowed down. I think robotaxi is going to be pretty much lights out, we will see.

@mikepat711 ya my guess is elon thinks in 10 year timeframes. big scale. doesn’t care for months or quarters. he’ll be right long term but as an investor have to keep that in mind

As the great George Carlin said, I hate people, but I love individuals, you can see the universe in their eyes if you look closely.

Reflecting on Elon and how he has changed my thinking and working as a professional. He definitely showed me how important it is to look for generalized solutions to problems and take longer for them. As long as they can be done, so be it if they take longer while everyone else gives short term solutions. For me, this meant working in the mines in my day job grind while making more generalized solutions behind closed doors. I have let them out bit by bit to my company and the company is safer because of them and this thinking.

I'm really curious about Elon's vision for AI video generation. Elon is pushing Grok Imagine extremely hard and it is the most used tool by a large margin. Is it for world models? Are they generating training data for those? Tesla has some of the best world models in the world right now, so he knows a thing or 2 about them. Or is it something else? Gaming? Generating UI on the fly?
