My Textbook (A Better Way to Learn Maths) is now available. Use the code CURLY for 25% off all books. Really great resource for new teachers and good for revision fo GCSE and AS students. It’s been a hard slog but I managed to finish it under deadline. curlybrackets.store/shop

@TickTockMaths That’s seems very cut and dry. I learn from worked examples almost exclusively and I’m a pretty good Mathematician.

@howie_hua That’s a pretty good idea. I would caveat it with assuming you want to travel faster. Just to be pedantic about it.

I used to think teaching unit conversions was boring...until I turned the questions into "Would you rather?" questions. Ex: Would you rather drive 100 ft/sec or 40 mph?

@missamackay @mcwardgow For online teaching the same way i would use a blackboard. Except I can quickly improvise and copy-paste questions and parts of the method on the fly. There’s an example of me using one on my website if you want to get a better idea.

Trig identities are the times tables of A-Level maths.

@salfordteacher @TeaKayB Yeah that’s definitely one. I think there are lots of reasons why it has a low popularity. The way it is presented to them in school could be putting a lot of students off.

1/2 The problem most kids seem not to like Maths, it’s because I think they believe, that to be good at something you understand it immediately. Whereas maths a subject where you have to make many, many mistakes before you make progress.
