What a night for Holy Names' Maggie Volmer. Volmer's tallied 17 points, 11 boards, and 11 blocks (!) in a 69-59 win over Glens Falls in the Class A semis. @AHNalbany

Holy Names 69
Glens Falls 59
Final
Competitive the whole way, but once @AHN_Basketball created a little breathing room, they never let it go. 3 seed onto the Section 2 Class A finals 📋
Four in double figures for the Panthers paced by Julia Viglucci & Maggie Volmer’s 17 points apiece, and both of them plus @_jeniyahwood (15) & Ruby Field (14) played valuable roles in a 3rd quarter stretch that proved to be decisive. Allie Dickinson went for 16 and Piper Eddy added 10 of her 15 in the 4th for a good @GFSDathletics team.
Game 1 ✔️

One of the numerous ways @AHN_Basketball has found to gain the upper hand - go get it off the rim. Ella LaBoissiere kept it alive, Ruby Field (2030) grabbed it, count it plus the foul 🛠️
This was in the midst of a big 10-0 run. Ruby & Maggie scored all the points, and Jeniyah Wood ball pressure impactful in that stretch as well. Led by as much as 13

Holy Names 84
Scotia-Glenville 77
Final (OT)
Scotia was down most of regulation & by as much as 13, but not out. Then Holy Names was down in the waning moments by as much as 8… but not out.
Even w/o the services of Maggie Volmer for the last 2:51 (fouls), @AHN_Basketball was the team that finally strung a few key stops together & made closing plays to advance to S2 Class A semis. What a battle.
Four in double figures for both teams. 22 for Maggie, 19 for Julia Viglucci, and @_jeniyahwood added 18 to lead AHN. Jess Bodden had 19, Noelle Acosta 18, and the O’Malleys (Riley & Sierra) added 14 apiece for Scotia.
Top that. Game 1 ✔️

@_jeniyahwood (2028) gets free on America’s Play & dials it up for @AHN_Basketball 🎯 if she starts knocking this down consistently… look out. Already difficult enough to stay in front of off the bounce.
And Jeniyah was the player of the quarter w/o question. 9 early pts & has defensive assignment on LSI star Kate Gilooly, who has 4 on a steal/layup & 2 FTe in the first minute.
LSI looks shell-shocked. I did not expect that on home court
