Updates: @oagsomalia & @TurkishSAI concluded a five-day Compliance Audit training in Ankara for 21 staff from OAGS, with participation from FMS audit staff. The program strengthened audit skills, professional exchange, & cooperation between the two SAIs, & closed with certificate awards.

The Auditor General @AIGutale met H.E. Amb. Alper Aktaş to advance the July 2025 MoU with the Turkish Court of Accounts. The partnership strengthens audit capacity and supports accountability, with continued support from TİKA and the Embassy of Türkiye.

@AIGutale convened a working session with the DG of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and officials from NIRA and MoF Revenue Directorate to streamline documentation for public contracts. The engagement supports stronger coordination, compliance, and accountability.

On January 17, 1961, the democratically elected Prime Minister of the Republic of the Congo, Patrice Lumumba, was executed with the involvement of the governments of Belgium and the United States. In his 1960 Independence Day speech, Lumumba declared: "We are going to show the world what the Black man [and woman] can do when working in freedom. We will make the Congo the center of the sun’s radiance for all of Africa. We will safeguard our country’s lands so that they truly benefit its children." Just six months later, he was imprisoned and executed by firing squad. One of the Somali famous songs composed in mourning of Lumumba’s death—by Abdullahi Qarshe and the Waaberi Band reminds these powerful sentiments. “Lamumba ma noola mana dhimaneey, Labada midna how maleynine ee Muuqiisaa la waayey mooyaane In uu maqan yahay ha moodina…..”
