On a personal note, this knee surgery has really sat me down in a way I’m not used to. I’ve been independent for as long as I can remember. Even as a kid, I was always the one getting up, figuring it out, doing for myself, staying busy, fixing something, handling something. That’s just who I’ve always been. I get a lot of that from my mother. So to be physically limited like this, for the first time in my life, and have to depend on other people for the simplest things every day… that’s been hard. Real hard. Humbling in a way I honestly wasn’t prepared for. It’s forced me to slow down, be still, and sit with a lot. My grandma always says, “you go a mile a minute, you need to slow down.” Maybe this really is God’s way of making me do that. Making me rest. Making me accept help. Making me realize I don’t have to carry everything by myself all the time. And if I’m being honest, it’s also shown me who’s really there for me. Who checks on me. Who shows up. Who cares without being asked twice. And that part has meant more than I can explain. I’ve got a real circle around me, and in the middle of all of this, that’s what’s made me feel the most blessed. 🙏🏾🙌🏾
