Today, AISI President and CEO Kevin Dempsey (pictured right) represented the American steel industry at the Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity (GFSEC) in Paris, which was chaired by the U.S. government. Dempsey emphasized the urgency of addressing global steel excess capacity through joint action. He highlighted the importance of creating a joint framework for action, urging governments to work together to detect and prevent circumvention. He also stressed that all countries need to improve transparency and data collection, which are crucial for supporting and assessing the effectiveness of trade measures.

AISI President and CEO Kevin Dempsey is in Paris this week for the @OECD Steel Committee meeting. Today, he presented on American steel market conditions on behalf of American steel producers. During his presentation, Dempsey emphasized that reducing global steel excess capacity remains a top priority for American steel producers and that the American steel industry supports continued efforts to address trade-distorting foreign government subsidies and the circumvention and evasion of our trade laws.
