Also, unlike everyone in his life Clark's not just a human or a kryptonian. He's a man of two worlds. He can't fully relate to Kara and similarly he can't truly relate to Lois or Jimmy or anyone else. That is a major source of his loneliness, his need for approval and more.

Kara's trauma comes from her life in Krypton, her experiencing it's destruction, her losing all her loved ones. Clark's trauma comes from the fact that he will never have a life there, he will never get to know his people, he will never know the parents who died saving him.
