I keep staring at this email not quite believing I finally got here. Tomorrow I got into work an NQP speech and language therapist and can take the student off my notes Thank you @HCS_Sheffield for the endless support both before and after the crash.

@DrFrancesRyan Yes. Thin paper combined with small cramped text is impossible for me. I thought I couldnt read classics until I borrowed a copy with a more accessible font. Love my kindle as I can change the font spacing etc. Have found i need to do this more dynamically since developing MS

Neurodivergent followers! Please help me with an access question. Do you struggle to read physical books? Do you find that some fonts in hardbacks/paperbacks are easier to read than others? Thanks so much.

@anna_westaway @karla_bakes @NDSLTUK Just a thought about the leveling element If everyone has access in advance everyone can prepare the same amount so ND and NT are level However putting on the spot puts ND people at a disadvantage due to their processing needs

When children show challenging behaviours, we can ask ourselves, "Could it be language?" Language is a powerful tool for communication. When this tool does not work well, children might resort to other less socially appropriate means. Let's speak up for DLD. @RADLDcam

A Paralympic commentator just said the following: "You stop seeing the wheelchair pretty quickly when you watch this sport." Do. Not. Say. This. It's ableist AF.

No, my chronic fatigue doesn’t make your occasional tiredness any less valid. But your occasional tiredness doesn’t magically give you an understanding of the exhaustion I face every day.

Thousands of children in poverty will be going back to school this week without a uniform that fits. @childrensociety are running an online gift store where you can buy what they need. £20 gets a child shoes that don’t rub. Donate here: givehope.uk/shop

Friendly reminder to the British media that the next week is not the only time to hire disabled journalists. Disabled people are for life, not just for the Paralympics.

We need to be aware and mindful that the riots and unrest may impact the CYP and families whom we work with. Some may raise this in sessions or fearful/reluctant to leave their homes to attend appointments. 🧵 1/2

If you want to understand what white privilege is, it’s the ability to walk down the street knowing that you’re safe from racist abuse. It’s the privilege of not having to second guess whether someone is judging you because of the colour of your skin. SPEAK UP AGAINST HATE.

Muslims and migrants have been demonised by the press and politicians for decades. This racist, far-right violence is the culmination of that.

Nigel farage wants you to think that Britain has an immigration problem. It doesn't. Britain had a problem with millionaires hoarding wealth, egged on by politicians and the press. Britain has a problem with racism. Britain has a @Nigel_Farage problem. RT if you agree.
