Kenneth Burson, representative of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and İsa Ersoy, NFPA Turkey Education Provider, visited our association. ​During the visit, a productive meeting was held on disaster and emergency preparedness, international standards, and opportunities for cooperation in search and rescue. We are pleased to continue our cooperation with our international stakeholders to strengthen the exchange of information and experience. @NFPA

Due to the increased rainfall in Southern Africa, a serious flood risk has occurred, especially in the Limpopo, Incomáti, and Umbeluzi river basins. Upon these developments, the Government of Mozambique has made a call for international assistance through the United Nations. We hosted Mr. Volkan Chih-Yang Huang, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Mission, and Mr. Larry Dong, Deputy Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Mission, at our association headquarters. During the meeting, the ongoing Taiwan Project was reviewed. Between 7 and 10 December, during the INSARAG External Classification (IEC) held in Muscat, Oman, we served as a Management Classifier in the assessment of Oman’s OMA-01 team. The Omani team demonstrated a highly successful performance across the management, search, rescue, logistics, and medical functions, thereby earning the qualification to upgrade from Medium to Heavy classification. The assessment was conducted with the participation of a total of 10 classifiers from Türkiye, Germany, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Switzerland, Qatar, and Russia, along with one INSARAG Representative from Russia.

On 26–27 November, our Association held a two-day workshop with the Russia EXTREMUM USAR Team on technical search and USAR coordination and management. Throughout the workshop, our team led the theoretical and practical sessions on technical search methods, USAR coordination, and operational management, while promoting mutual knowledge and experience exchange between both teams. Following the program, a visit was made to the Istanbul Fire Brigade’s Kadıköy Fire Station. Our Association will continue to strengthen cooperation and knowledge-sharing with national and international institutions and organizations.

AKUT ve Tayvan Ulusal İtfaiye Teşkilatı’nın (NFA) ortak projesi devam ediyor. Akarsu Arama Kurtarma ve İpli Kurtarma çalışmalarının ardından, Nantou Eğitim Tesisleri’nde ve Nantou Kenti’nin çeşitli bölgelerinde düzenlenen “Grimp Day Taiwan Uluslararası İpli Kurtarma Yarışması”na gözlemci olarak katıldık. 25 ekibin yarıştığı etkinlikte, farklı kurtarma tekniklerinin zamana karşı uygulanışını gözlemleme ve değerlendirme fırsatı bulduk. Katılan ekiplerle yaptığımız değerlendirmeler sayesinde bilgi ve tecrübe paylaşımı gerçekleştirdik. AKUT 與臺灣國家消防署（NFA）的合作計畫持續進行中 在進行完急流救援與繩索救援訓練後， 我們以觀察員的身分，參與了於南投訓練設施及南投市多個地點舉辦的「Grimp Day Taiwan 國際繩索救援競賽」。 本次競賽共有 25 支隊伍參加， 我們有機會觀察並評估各種救援技術在限時情況下的實際應用。 同時，也與參賽隊伍進行交流，分享經驗與技術心得。 AKUT & Taiwan National Fire Agency (NFA) Joint Project Continues Following the Swift Water Rescue and Rope Rescue activities, we participated as observers in the “Grimp Day Taiwan International Rope Rescue Competition,” held at the Nantou Training Facilities and in various locations across Nantou City. With 25 teams competing, we had the opportunity to observe and evaluate the application of different rescue techniques against time. Ekim ayında, AKUT ve Tayvan Ulusal İtfaiye Teşkilatı’nın (NFA) ortak projesi kapsamında, Akarsu Arama Kurtarma Branşı’nın ardından, İpli Kurtarma Branşı eğitmenleri olarak Nantou bölgesinde bulunan Eğitim Tesisleri’nde misafir edildik. Bilgi ve tecrübe paylaşımının yanı sıra, tesislerde bulunan eğitim alanlarında itfaiye ekipleriyle birlikte uygulamalı pratik çalışmalar gerçekleştirdik. Bu uluslararası iş birliği, iki kurum arasındaki dayanışmanın güçlenmesine katkı sağlarken, gelecekteki ortak projeler için de önemli bir adım olmuştur. 十月份，在 AKUT 和臺灣國家消防署（NFA）共同專案之下，我們在南投地區的訓練設施中，以繩索救援部門講師的身份受邀參加（接續水流救援部門課程之後）。 除了分享知識與經驗外，我們還與消防隊團隊在設施內的訓練場地進行了實作演練。 這項國際合作不但強化了兩機構間的團結，也成為未來共同專案的重要一步。 In October, as part of the joint project between AKUT and the National Fire Agency (NFA) of Taiwan, we were hosted at the Training Facilities located in the Nantou region as Rope Rescue Branch instructors, following the Swift Water Rescue Branch program. In addition to sharing knowledge and experience, we conducted hands-on practical exercises together with the fire department teams in the training areas of the facility. AKUT急流救援隊在臺灣！ 作為AKUT搜索與救援協會與臺灣內政部消防署（NFA）合作計畫的一部分，AKUT急流救援分隊的志工受邀前往南投訓練中心進行交流。 在最初的三天中，我們與NFA團隊在流經南投市中心的龍川進行了聯合訓練，加強了我們在災害應變與搜索救援行動方面的知識與經驗。 透過這次國際合作，我們強化了兩個組織之間的友誼與團結，並分享了寶貴的經驗與技術，以進一步提升我們的專業能力。 AKUT Swift Water Rescue Team in Taiwan! As part of the project between AKUT Search and Rescue Association and the National Fire Agency (NFA) of Taiwan, AKUT Swift Water Rescue Branch volunteers were hosted at the Nantou Training Facilities. As one of the consortium partners of the EU MODEX exercises, AKUT participated in the international exercise held in Graz, Austria. Our volunteers took on active roles from the planning phase onwards, contributing significantly to the exercise. 🔸 One of our volunteers served as a mentor in the cave and rope rescue module, 🔸 One volunteered as a mentor for the Romanian urban search and rescue team, 🔸 And another joined the coordination team, supporting the overall implementation of the exercise. The exercise in Graz brought together urban search and rescue, cave rescue, mountain rescue, and emergency medical teams, working side by side in simulated disaster scenarios. Our association participated in the INSARAG (International Search and Rescue Advisory Group) Working Groups and the Africa, Europe & Middle East Regional Group Meeting, held in Prague, Czech Republic, from 4–8 October 2025. The meeting brought together 96 representatives from 32 countries, focusing on the development of the INSARAG structure, upcoming updates to the INSARAG Guidelines, and the preparation of the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan. @Insarag

The INSARAG Working Group meetings, planned to take place before and after the INSARAG Africa, Europe and Middle East Regional Group Meeting, have started this weekend in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. The closed sessions of the working groups, in which our association is also participating, will begin tomorrow and will continue on Wednesday following the regional meeting, which will host nearly 100 participants.

We sincerely share the grief of the people of Taiwan, who have always stood by us in difficult times.
