Emergency roadway repair is underway on I-20/59 westbound in Tuscaloosa County near Exit 89 following Tuesday evening’s crash. Traffic is reduced to one lane and is expected to remain that way until around 6:30 p.m. Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes.

Update: One WB lane is now open.

Response crews continue to work the crash on I-20/59 WB near MP 89 in Tuscaloosa County. All westbound lanes remain closed. Expect major delays and see alternate routes, such as SR-216 or US-11.

The entire area is now under a level 3 of 5 risk tonight, for damaging winds up to 70 mph, large hail, and tornadoes as the line of storms moves through. An additional threat of scattered storms may become supercells in the southeastern third of the area. Stay aware of updates!

ALDOT will implement a right-lane closure on I-20/59 WB from near Exit 71 to near MP 69 in Tuscaloosa to perform bridge deck rehab. The right lane will be closed Feb. 9 for about three weeks. The contractor will maintain at least one lane of traffic throughout the project.

All state routes within the West Central Region (Bibb, Chilton, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marion, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, Walker, Winston) are open and clear at this time. Crews will respond as needed for potential isolated re-icing.

ALDOT crews are currently pretreating priority roads and bridges as conditions permit in west central Alabama. Crews responded to fallen trees in Winston Co., and will continue to respond to problem spots throughout the event.

Primary routes, bridges and known hot spots have been treated in Marion, Winston, northern Lamar and northern Fayette counties. Drive carefully.

All traffic signals are out on Lurleen Wallace Blvd. in downtown Tuscaloosa due to a crash involving a power pole. Expect delays and consider alternate routes.
