Leading up to my birthday on 14 March, I want to post one thing per day that I did in my life that made me happy. In no particular order, I will start today… I grew up playing barefoot in the street with neighbourhood kids, playing until our parents called us in for dinner.

Michael passed away on Sunday night after a difficult battle with mnd. To all who supported this incredible man, thank you.

The last two days have been a bit of an aftershock to whatever pushed me into the recovery ❤️‍🩹 centre. Praying for feeling better…

Day 35: I tried skateboarding, surfing, rollerblading and ice skating. I also broke my coccyx. Still, I lived.

I take my hat off to the people that, compensated or not, care for the dying. However, I find it increasingly unfair for people with MND to struggle with carers who, despite all efforts, show little improvement, sense of urgency or compassion.

I wish I could ‘Leave the house.’ That fun, relatively care-free activity that was pretty often done before #MND / #ALS. Before, complete immobility, muscle atrophy, pressure sores and non-invasive ventilation.

Since losing my speech people seem to think I am unable to hear. It’s so bizarre… Nurse to carer (in standard register): I’ll be back tomorrow to change the line. Nurse to me: I’LL BE BACK TOMORROW, SIR!

I’m not gonna lie, I’m not a very patient man, but my pet peeve is having to repeat myself over and over again, like, why do people want me to peel my oranges twice?

Day 33: I’m far from perfect, no one is, but I stepped up to the plate when it was my turn.
