“The paradox… is a sector enjoying unprecedented political alignment – from climate competitiveness to supply-chain security – while the day-to-day rules for staking, permitting and access risk are starving the pipeline of the discoveries Canada needs.” AME President & CEO Todd Stone talks with @northernminer about the state of the mineral exploration sector in British Columbia. Thank you to @henrylazenby for an excellent and concise summary. Read here: northernminer.com/news/bc-suppor…

Access, access, access. That's the message AME President & CEO Todd Stone heard when he visited Nelson to attend the Minerals South conference hosted by the East Kootenay Chamber of Mines this week. In a conversation with East Kootenay Chamber of Mines President Jason Jacob,  he hears about what members have been saying at Minerals South, and how provincial government can help mineral exploration to boost BC’s economy and future.

Commenting on federal Budget 2025, AME President and CEO Todd Stone said: “Canada has a generational opportunity to benefit from mineral exploration and future mine development. Today’s budget shows how the federal government intends to grasp that opportunity with tools that bring certainty and investment to Canadian mineral exploration." AME welcomes the recognition of the importance of critical minerals to Canada’s Climate Competitiveness Strategy, as well as tax benefit extensions and new funds demonstrating support for mineral exploration. You don't get mines if you don't look for minerals. AME President & CEO Todd Stone got the chance to visit Smithers this week for one of AME's Member Town Halls. Afterwards he chatted with Jessy Chaplin, a Director of the Smithers Exploration Group, to reflect on what members are seeing on the ground. They talked about Smithers’ strength as a mineral exploration hub and the Smithers Exploration Group community’s passion for mineral exploration. There are more AME Town Halls to come in Vancouver, Cranbrook, and Nanaimo! RSVP here: amebc.ca/event/ame-fall…

Timely mineral exploration permits create direct benefits for nearby communities. Last weekend, AME President and CEO Todd Stone visited @CopperGoldTorr's Bertha Copper Target and talked with President, CEO and Director Malcom Dorsey. Malcom highlighted the project's potential for a new discovery in an overlooked area close to great infrastructure - and how getting permits in place so that work is not delayed can keep local people employed.
