Blues-rock guitarist Eric Gales delivered intense, improvised electric guitar work for the 2026 film Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler. Collaborating with composer Ludwig Göransson, Gales contributed a signature blues-infused sound to the soundtrack, specifically on tracks like “Elijah” and “Grand Closin'”. In early 2021, as the world slowly emerged from pandemic lockdowns, the blues legend was already looking ahead with hard-won optimism. Laid up after a week of medical procedures but still cracking jokes about @paulsalfen resembling Jimmy Fallon (or occasionally Chris Martin), Gales spoke candidly in an interview that captured his excitement for what would become a career-defining moment: his album Crown. Produced by longtime friend and fellow guitar hero Joe Bonamassa, Crown (released January 28, 2022, via Provogue/Mascot Label Group) marked the moment Gales finally took his “rightful place at the head of the blues-rock table.” After a career that soared with prodigious talent in the early ’90s only to be nearly derailed by serious substance abuse issues, this record represented a powerful phoenix-like rise. Gales and Bonamassa first connected as teen prodigies. Their paths diverged until a blistering 2019 onstage guitar duel reignited the bond. Bonamassa later told Gales it was “time he had his seat at the table,” offering to produce the album and declaring, “You have no idea how long I waited for you — now I am going to do my part to lift you where you’re supposed to be.” amfm-magazine.tv/from-rock-bott…

Then came the conversation with director Heimann. What sealed the deal? His genuine care for the film’s deeper layers. “When I realized how important [the mental health and trauma aspects]were to him, I was like, yeah, it’s a yes. It’s a no-brainer. SXSW 2026, @paulsalfen sat down with the creative forces behind The Ascent—the standout documentary that had just world-premiered. Directors Edward Drake and Scott Veltri (joined by third director Francis Cronin, who couldn’t be there in person) and their remarkable subject, bilateral-amputee climber Mandy Horvath, opened up about the film’s five-year journey, the raw trust it demanded, and the life-changing climb that became both literal and metaphorical. The Story That Defies Gravity “The Ascent” is the inspiring true story of Colorado Springs bilateral-amputee climber Mandy Horvath’s record-breaking attempt to crawl to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro on her hands. At 21, Mandy lost both of her legs under mysterious circumstances—an event that shattered her trust in the world around her. AMFM Magazine’s @paulsalfen sits down with the faith-and-culture journalist to unpack the second installment of the Investigating the Supernatural series — a project that blends eyewitness testimony, expert insight, Scripture and reenactments to ask one provocative question: Is the spiritual realm real, and how does it touch our everyday lives? Houston, TX – In a wide-ranging and candid conversation on AMFM Magazine, host Paul Salfen welcomed Billy Hallowell, journalist, commentator, digital TV host and author of three books. Hallowell has penned more than 15,000 articles on faith, culture and politics and has interviewed hundreds of celebrities, authors and influencers. Today he is the driving force behind CBN’s feature-film series Investigating the Supernatural. The latest installment, Angels & Demons, follows Hallowell as he crisscrosses the country examining firsthand accounts of angelic encounters, demonic oppression and deliverance. Through dramatic reenactments, expert biblical analysis and compelling personal testimonies — including that of truck driver Bruce Van Natta — the film confronts a question modern culture often sidesteps: Is the spiritual realm real, and if so, how does it impact our lives today? amfm-magazine.tv/billy-hallowel…

Oscar-nominated screenwriter Billy Ray opens up about his bold transition from Hollywood blockbusters to young adult fiction with Burn the Water, his gripping debut novel published by Scholastic Press on March 3, 2026. Best known for his work on Captain Phillips (2013), The Hunger Games (2012), the iconic Nicole Kidman AMC commercial, and the highly anticipated Sunrise on the Reaping (2026), Ray has spent decades crafting stories for the screen. Now, he steps into original storytelling in a new medium, reimagining Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet as a dystopian epic set in a flooded, post-apocalyptic London of 2425. The novel follows Rafe, the ruthless captain of the Rouge army, and Jule, the fiercest warrior of the Crowns—two young leaders from opposing factions locked in a centuries-long war over scarce resources in a sunken metropolis ravaged by climate change. Destined to lead their sides to victory, they instead fall in love, forcing them to confront the true cost of endless conflict as a greater threat emerges from the depths. As Ray shared in the conversation with AMFM’s @paulsalfen , the idea for Burn the Water first sparked 18 years ago.amfm-magazine.tv/hunger-games-s…

Mena Suvari @suvari_mena chatted with @paulsalfen of AMFM Magazine about her latest plunge into the dark and deliciously deranged: Vampires of the Velvet Lounge, a horror-comedy that arrives in select theaters tomorrow, March 20th, courtesy of Strand Releasing. Suvari, the actress, producer, model, and fashion designer who first captivated audiences with her BAFTA-nominated turn in the 1999 masterpiece American Beauty, has never shied away from the unconventional. She’s danced through the suburban satire of Slums of Beverly Hills, the teen chaos of Sugar & Spice, the high-octane grit of Domino, and now she’s stepping into the velvet shadows as Elizabeth Báthory herself—the infamous Blood Countess whose real-life legend is said to have whispered inspirations into Bram Stoker’s Dracula. amfm-magazine.tv/mena-suvari-si…

LIn an exclusive conversation with AMFM Magazine’s @PaulSalfen, Liz Trujillo—singer, guitarist, and the driving force behind Conexión Divina—opened up about her deeply personal evolution as she prepares for key moments at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin. The interview arrives on the heels of the February 6, 2026, release of 18, the project’s sophomore album now centered solely on Trujillo, marking a bold new chapter for the Mexican-American sierreño act. Released via Sony Music Latin and available on all digital platforms, 18 comprises 13 tracks that serve as an open letter from Trujillo, reflecting the pivotal experiences she’s navigated since turning 18—love in its many forms, heartbreak, loss, identity, family ties, and emotional maturation. The title itself is deliberate, anchoring the album in that transformative age when the foundations of her artistic voice began to solidify. Blending original songs penned by Trujillo with thoughtful covers of legendary artists like Jeanette (“Soy Rebelde”), Los Temerarios, Mon Laferte (“Antes de Ti”), and others, 18 bridges influences from her past while asserting her unique perspective. amfm-magazine.tv/liz-trujillo-o…

In a wide-ranging conversation, acclaimed director Oliver Laxe opens up about his latest film Sirât, a visceral journey through Morocco’s desert raves that has captivated audiences and critics alike. The film, which follows a father (Sergi López) and his son as they search for their missing daughter amid endless electronic music parties in the southern Moroccan mountains and burning wilderness, is more than a search story—it’s a profound meditation on life, death, family, and confronting one’s inner limits. Laxe describes the experience of sharing Sirât with U.S. audiences as electric, particularly the thrill of being in the theater post-screening to sense the audience’s reaction. “There’s definitely electricity, especially at the end,” he notes, highlighting the film’s cathartic twist that catches viewers off guard. For Laxe, this isn’t mere surprise—it’s intentional “shock therapy.” “We wanted people to die watching the film,” he explains. “Because it’s healthy to learn to die. We have to do it.” with @paulsalfen, #siratfilm amfm-magazine.tv/oliver-laxe-on…

In this candid conversation, Blackhurst opens up about the personal risks and deep emotional investment in bringing DOLLY to life. At 45, with two children and a lifelong career in indie filmmaking, he describes the project as a pivotal “Hail Mary” moment—a bold swing for success after years of perseverance in a challenging industry. Synopsis DOLLY follows Macy (played by Fabianne Therese), a young woman who fights for survival after being abducted by a deranged, monster-like figure intent on raising her as their own child. The film blends gritty 1970s grindhouse aesthetics, extreme violence, and disturbing familial horror, drawing inspiration from classics like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre while carving its own unapologetically brutal path. Starring Seann William Scott, Ethan Suplee, Russ Tiller, Kate Cobb, Michalina Scorzelli, and Max the Impaler in the titular role, DOLLY expands on Blackhurst’s earlier short film Babygirl and delivers relentless, gory set pieces that horror fans are calling savage and unforgettable. @paulsalfen, @rodblackhurst #HorrorMovies amfm-magazine.tv/swinging-for-t…

THE BRIDE! Review - A Daring, Disheveled Monster Mash from Maggie Gyllenhaal - In the shadowy laboratories of cinema, few creatures have endured as iconically as the Bride of Frankenstein—Elsa Lanchester’s hissing, electrified vision from 1935, a character who barely spoke yet screamed volumes about creation, rejection, and female agency. Now, in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s audacious sophomore feature The Bride!, that silent scream explodes into a full-throated, punk-rock roar. Released today by Warner Bros. Pictures, this R-rated gothic romance-horror hybrid relocates the myth to 1930s Chicago, where a lonely Frankenstein’s monster (Christian Bale) seeks companionship from groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening). Together, they resurrect a murdered young woman as the Bride (Jessie Buckley), unleashing an outlaw love story that careens through romance, violence, radical social upheaval, and even unexpected musical flourishes. Gyllenhaal, following her precise and intimate The Lost Daughter, swings for the fences here... amfm-magazine.tv/the-bride-a-da…
