I sat with this for eight days before writing it. On April 21 and 22, Mthandizi was part of the MACRA National ICT Innovation Awards. Two days of ministerial presentations, industry judges, and a room full of Malawi’s most respected names in technology. MACRA created a platform that proved Malawi has talent capable of competing on a global stage. As one of the teams selected to demonstrate what we are building, it was an opportunity to place Mthandizi in front of leading voices across tech, policy, and finance. Here is what happened across those two days. The Minister of ICT, Dr. Shadric Namalomba, commended Mthandizi for its relevance and practical design for Malawians. The judges’ panel, which included Rachel Sibande (Founder, mHub) and Eugene Maseya (NxtGen), described the presentation as one of the strongest of the day. Multiple institutional partnerships were initiated, with strong interest from financial institutions and international stakeholders. On the same day the results were announced, Mthandizi was nominated for the Generation Connect Youth Envoys Leadership Programme. If selected, Mthandizi will represent Malawi at the AI for Good Global Summit 2026 in Geneva. To receive this level of recognition just three months after launch confirms what we already believed: Mthandizi is on the right path. Mthandizi was built without external funding to solve a structural problem across Malawi. Critical information is fragmented and inaccessible. Opportunities and action on data are missed not because people lack capability, but because information does not reach them in a form they can act on. And Mthandizi does not only serve individuals. Ministries such as Health and Tourism, financial institutions, and other organizations can draw real signal from how Malawians interact with data, services, and opportunities on the platform. That creates actionable intelligence they can use to make better decisions. With the right support to scale, Mthandizi can evolve into national economic infrastructure. That problem has not yet been solved. The next chapter is global. mthandizi.com #Malawi #MalawiTech #ITU #AIforGood #Mthandizi #MACRA
