An exciting visit to @GKNAero this week by AMPLab PhD students @DinaMFouad & @DorothyTom6871 to discuss their projects on AM of aerospace alloys. They had a chance to meet ex-AMPLab member Dr. Lakshmi Parimi, GKN’s Principal Research Specialist together with Dr. Tony Tang.

Very pleased to receive ~£1.5M funding from @UKAEAofficial to scale up tungsten #additivemanufacturing and powder metallurgy, jointly between @AMPLab_unibham, @metamorphic_am @TokamakEnergy . @unibirmingham @metmat_unibham leads the only university-led programme in this cohort.

Meet AMPlab first year PhD student @DorothyTom6871. She is working with @GKNAero on the additive manufacturing of IN718 Nickel superalloys with a focus on microstructure control.

It was great to see Dr. Matteo Seita @AddMELab today. I gave him a tour of @AMPLab_unibham and he met with AMPLab students. I look forward to starting some collaborations.
