5️⃣ 𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘦 (𝘊. 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧) #Cdiff is a bacterium that can cause severe and life-threatening diarrhea, often after antibiotic use. It is the most common healthcare-associated infection, and community-associated cases continue to occur.

4️⃣ Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) #CRE are bacteria that are resistant to carbapenem antibiotics, often considered a last line of defense. These infections pose a significant concern in healthcare settings and often leave limited treatment options.

3️⃣ Multidrug-resistant or extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis Drug-resistant TB develops when TB antibiotics are misused. While TB is often curable, drug-resistant forms require longer, more complex treatment and can have serious side effects if not treated properly.

2️⃣ Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus #MRSA is a type of staph bacteria that has become resistant to many first-line antibiotics. It can cause difficult-to-treat infections in healthcare settings and the community, including serious bloodstream infections.

1️⃣ Carbapenem-resistant 𝘈𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘈𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘳 bacteria can survive for long periods on surfaces and are most often linked to healthcare settings. Some strains are resistant to nearly all antibiotics, leaving very limited treatment options.

5 #superbugs you should know about 🦠 These bacteria have developed resistance to antibiotics, making infections harder to treat and increasing health risks. Here are five examples highlighted from the CDC’s #AntimicrobialResistance threats.

A child’s chance of surviving #sepsis should not depend on where they are born. An estimated 85% of global sepsis cases occur in low- and middle-income countries, where gaps in diagnostics, lab capacity, and timely treatment persist. Closing these gaps can save lives.
