Al Aqsa Amsterdam Campus - Now open! Roeterseilandcampus,building J/K, Nieuwe Achtergracht 184 UvA staff have set up camp at the REC campus on Roetersiland- we will be there all day until late, to Congregate, Educate, & Liberate! Join us! On Sunday evening, Israel once again increased its genocidal violence against the people of Gaza, launching airstrikes that slaughtered at least 45 people. This time, Israel attacked a so-called designated safe zone where displaced Palestinians, including pregnant women and children, were staying in tents. Today, the UVA staff reclaim their university to honour Palestinian resistance and to imagine a liberatory university. We haved re-named the building after the Al Aqsa University in Gaza. Israel opened fire on Al Aqsa in February 2024 slaughtering displaced civilians and academics seeking shelter. IDF soldiers burned books on Al Aqsa campus demonstrating that Palestinian education threatens the foundations of the Ziomist state. In the name of Al Aqsa and all other Palestinian universities and schools, we reclaim universities all over the world as spaces of radical pedagogy and transformative imagination. Palestine will be free, the universities of Gaza will be rebuilt - we will not stop! The executive board of the UvA published a statement today that ALL academic buildings are closed and no lessons will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday! WE SHUT IT DOWN! They claim this is to keep students and staff safe - but real safety means NOT CALLING THE COPS ONTO CAMPUS. Real safety means DIVESTMENT & BOYCOTT - and a FREE PALESTINE. Alweer stuurt de UvA de politie af op haar eigen studenten. Beschamend en schandalig. De taak van een universiteit is om kritische dialoog mogelijk te maken. In plaats daarvan kiest dit bestuur ervoor studenten te laten mishandelen en verwonden. Once again, the UvA is sending the police after its own students. Shameful and outrageous. The job of a university is to facilitate critical dialogue. Instead, this administration chooses to allow students to be mistreated and injured.

Studentenbewegingen hebben bijgedragen aan het stoppen van de Vietnamoorlog en de apartheid in Zuid-Afrika. Hoe vaak de UvA de politie ook op ons afstuurt, wij staan aan de juiste kant van de geschiedenis en blijven doorgaan tot de UvA de banden met Israël verbreekt. Student movements helped stop the Vietnam War and apartheid in South Africa. No matter how many times the UvA turns the police on us, we are on the right side of history and will continue until the UvA cuts ties with Israel.

We zijn solidair met iedereen die een permanent staakt-het-vuren en gerechtigheid voor Palestina eist in dit donkere moment waarop Rafah wordt gebombardeerd. De UvA moet de banden met Israël verbreken en stoppen met het steunen van genocide. We stand in solidarity with all who demand a permanent ceasefire and justice for Palestine on this dark moment when Rafah is being bombed. The UvA must sever ties with Israel and stop supporting Genocide.

De studentenkampen zijn noodzaak. Zonder de kampen weigert het College van Bestuur van de UvA naar ons te luisteren, laat staan dat ze serieus op de eisen ingaan: volledige transparantie over, een academische boycot van en volledige desinvestering in Israëlische instellingen. The student encampments are a necessity. Without the encampments, the UvA Board of Governors refuses to listen to us, let alone seriously address the demands: full transparency about, an academic boycott of and complete divestment from Israeli institutions.

Iedere keer dat de UvA de politie afstuurt op haar studenten, voegen zich meer mensen, studenten en anderen, bij de strijd voor een vrij Palestina. Het disproportionele politiegeweld houdt ons niet tegen. Wij blijven doorgaan tot de UvA de samenwerking met Israël stopt. Every time the UvA sends the police at its students, more people, students and others, join the struggle for a free Palestine. Disproportionate police violence does not stop us. We will continue until the UvA stops cooperating with Israel.

Na de Russische inval in Oekraïne bevroor de UvA alle lopende samenwerkingsverbanden met Russische (academische) instellingen. Dat de UvA ervoor kiest dat in het geval van Israël niet te doen, is teken van een grove minachting voor de levens van Palestijnen. After the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the UvA froze all ongoing partnerships with Russian (academic) institutions. That the UvA chooses not to do so in the case of Israel is indicative of a gross disregard for the lives of Palestinians.

Massive crowd of students and faculty of Leiden University chants "disclose, divest. We will not stop, we will not rest" at an ongoing protest for Palestine and against police violence.

77 Spaanse universiteiten gaan de banden met Israëlische kennisinstellingen verbreken als zij zich niet uitgesproken hebben voor International recht. Ondertussen gaat de UvA gewoon door met de samenwerking met Israël. Daarmee is de universiteit medeplichtig aan genocide. 77 Spanish universities are going to cut ties with Israeli knowledge institutions if they have not declared their commitment to International Law. Meanwhile, the UvA continues its cooperation with Israel. In doing so, the university is complicit in Genocide.

Tegen de achtergrond van de aanval op Rafah en de 35.000 Palestijnen die door Israël zijn vermoord in de afgelopen seven maanden, volhardt de UvA in haar steun aan genocide. Sinds het begin van de studentenprotesten heeft de KABK de samenwerking met Israël verbroken en ook de VU heeft een eerste stap in dezelfde richting gezet. De UvA daartegen volhardt in haar steun voor genocide en stuurt de politie af op studenten en medewerkers. Since the beginning of the student protests, the KABK has broken off cooperation with Israel and the VU has also taken a first step in the same direction. The UvA, on the other hand, persists in its support for genocide and is sending riot police to target students and employees.

Bij de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen en de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven hebben studenten een kamp ingericht. Stop de steun voor genocide!
