CCCL MACCLESFIELD STATEMENT ON SIGNINGS. Our first team is built on a foundation of young talent, backed by experienced players who are dedicated to nurturing their growth and creating a strong, balanced team atmosphere. Jack Massey, at just 20, will captain next season, leading a promising lineup that includes bowlers Miles Bradshaw and Otis Palmes, both 23, alongside Brad Porter (18) and left-arm seamer Finley Nash (17), both Cheshire U18 all-rounders. We also have Sam Hughes, 18, an off-spinner, and Joe Moores, 16, with a strong group of younger players pushing up from the 2nds. Supporting this youth, we have excellent senior players like John Birchall, James Longhorn, Khalis Sawas, and Derbyshire first-team player Alex Thomson, who loves his fishing but also has a deep passion for the club. Our overseas player, Andrew Poppa from Carlton CC, is on their leadership programme and opens for the first team; he scored a solid 50 today and is expected to perform well. Macclesfield is on a five-year plan to organically grow its players through a strong academy, aiming for a return to the Premier Division. Unlike other clubs, we don’t pay for external talent; we want players who genuinely want to be part of our club and cricketing family. Everyone is on the same page in supporting the development of our young players, creating a positive and supportive environment. Our focus is on long-term growth. If we sign anyone, it will be a young, talented player who wants to evolve with us. Our investment is in coaching and our EPP programme to build a sustainable path to success—ensuring Macclesfield’s cricketing future remains bright.
