2+ years into the pandemic, it’s time to acknowledge that health care professionals are not an inexhaustible resource. Real change is needed to make sure that those who care for others, are well-cared for themselves. Implementing great ideas below will make a big difference.

South Korea continues to show signs that its epidemic is abating, today reporting 74 new cases. Their massive testing effort aimed at identifying and isolating infected patients was no doubt a key part of their success in combatting virus, as were their early mitigation steps.

The issue of hospital capacity is a real problem. I will share this now pertaining to NY because Governor Cuomo shared these numbers today. Brace yourself. The green and yellow bars are how many ICU beds (w vents) are needed. See the little red line? That’s how many we have.10/

We need an all hands approach to making our front line health care workers, nursing home staff & docs feel safe. Period. If not they will agitate & many wont show up. People who can change this are aware and need to step up. 7/
