Earth Day is a reminder that caring for the planet and caring for people are the same work. Anera is commited to both. We work alongside communities in Palestine, Lebanon, and Jordan to build resilience through sustainable agriculture, improved water infrastructure, and renewable energy. We support hydroponics and rooftop gardens, solar-powered water systems, and waste management initiatives that help communities access what they need most: food, water, and a future. More than 6 months since the October 10th ceasefire, people are still dying in Gaza, being killed and injured each day. Furthermore, not enough aid is coming in. So what does a ceasefire actually mean in practice for civilians in Gaza and aid groups? Anera's President & CEO, @scarrolldc, spoke with @joyhackel from @theworld to discuss the current situation: theworld.org/segments/2026/…

For people like Nohad, recent bombardments in Lebanon have stolen the safety of home. Right now, your donation ensures we can reach those in need with critical, life-sustaining supplies. Many families are currently seeking refuge in overcrowded schools turned into makeshift shelters that aren’t equipped to support hundreds of people at once. You can stand with the people of Lebanon today. A gift of just $35 can provide the simple comfort of a mattress for a family navigating these abysmal conditions. Anera will be there every step of the way. Donate now: anera.org/give-to-lebanon

Food prices in Lebanon are rising. At the supermarket, a routine trip that once covered essentials now forces difficult choices. Items are put back. Quantities are reduced. What used to last a week barely stretches for a few days. Recent developments have made things worse. Learn more: anera.org/blog/food-pric…

Palestinian refugees in Lebanon face a unique and compounding crisis, where lack of access to basic resources has been dangerously amplified by recent escalations. Thousands of families from refugee camps across South Lebanon, Beirut and the Bekaa Valley have fled north, seeking safety at the Nahr El Bared Camp. To meet this urgent need, Anera is on the ground providing vital relief. In collaboration with the Women’s Program Association kitchen, our team has supported the preparation and distribution of 6,000 hot meals, part of the 155,897 hot meals we've served since March. Cooked fresh daily, these daily meals offer more than just nutrition; they offer a sense of stability in a time of chaos. This is only one part of Anera's broader success in providing support to more than 400,000 people across Lebanon, including both Lebanese and refugee families. Please help us sustain these efforts. Support our emergency response by donating at: anera.org/give-to-lebanon.

Across Lebanon, hospitals face a severe shortage of ventilators. In many cases, patients are turned away. To provide relief, Anera delivered three ventilators to key major trauma-designated hospitals in Saida and Tyre, which will allow them to serve those with life-threatening cases. This is more than equipment — it’s an essential response that offers lifesaving support for a healthcare system under strain. Donate today to support Anera's emergency response to provide lifesaving aid across Lebanon: anera.org/give-to-lebanon.

In communities across Jordan, families are facing food insecurity, water scarcity and the impacts of climate change. Through Anera’s agriculture project, our team is installing climate-resilient greenhouses in schools and community spaces. These water-efficient gardens can produce up to 2645 lbs (1,200 kg) of fresh vegetables annually, benefiting thousands of students, teachers and community members. Anera recently welcomed our new country director of Palestine, Khaled Rajab. "Palestine is still our safe haven, even when it doesn’t always feel safe. It’s the place where our memories, people, and identity are rooted. It’s what grounds me to my work and the communities I serve, which is why it gives me a profound sense of pride to now be leading Anera’s team in Palestine," he says. With roads cut off and access increasingly restricted across South Lebanon, securing food and clean water has become a desperate daily struggle for families. Despite these harsh conditions, many people remain in their villages, enduring the crisis from their homes. In response, Anera and SHIELD successfully coordinated an urgent relief convoy to deliver 9,000 pounds of fresh produce and over 1,400 gallons of bottled drinking water. This mission reached 870 families across the villages of Qlayaa and Borj El Mlouk in the Marjayoun District. While we are working tirelessly to bridge the food gap and provide support directly to these communities, the need continues to grow as the situation evolves. Please consider donating today to help us sustain this emergency response and provide a lifeline to affected families. Donate today: anera.org/give-to-lebanon

The humanitarian situation in Lebanon has reached a critical tipping point as hostilities continue. Today, in the early afternoon local time, nearly 100 simultaneous strikes were conducted across Lebanon, including Beirut, Mount Lebanon, Bekaa, South and Nabatieh regions. Hundreds have been either killed or wounded. This follows an attack earlier today on a cafe in the port city of Sidon that killed eight people and injured 22. The healthcare system is under extreme pressure, exacerbated by strikes near medical facilities and the destruction of key infrastructure, such as bridges, which has isolated several southern communities. Medical staff in Beirut are evacuating patients to the North and Mount Lebanon so they can accommodate the large numbers of injured. Since early March, more than 1.2 million people, nearly one-fifth of the country’s population, have been displaced, creating one of the fastest-growing crises globally. Anera’s team is unharmed and they are monitoring the humanitarian situation closely. We will keep everyone updated on our emergency response as the crisis continues to evolve. You can donate to our emergency response in Lebanon at anera.org/give-to-lebanon.

Every year, April 6 marks International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. Today, we’re reminded that sport is more than a game. It is a space for healing, connection, and possibility. But for many young people across the Middle East, even that space is out of reach. Learn more, and our commitment to igniting change through sports: anera.org/blog/internati…

It is currently poppy season, marking the arrival of Palestine’s national flower. These poppies serve as a natural reminder of resilience during dark times. Because their seeds can remain dormant for decades while waiting for the right conditions to germinate, they possess a unique understanding of the land and its cycles that mirrors the spirit of the Palestinian people. Furthermore, the poppy is known for its remarkable ability to withstand rough terrain and unpredictable rainfall. This small but mighty flower offers a hidden message for everyone, standing as a prime example of perseverance and growth even under intense pressure. 📸 Photo taken by a staff member over the weekend from the West Bank.

On this Palestinian Children's Day we recognize the unique challenges children in Gaza are facing. According to a recent report from UNICEF, almost all of Gaza’s 1.2 million children need mental health and psychosocial support. Anera is on the frontlines providing with psychosocial support at our clinics in Gaza. To help families celebrate Ramadan, Eid and Easter, UNICEF, in partnership with Anera, distributed 470 Eid & Easter clothing kits to children living in shelters located in Dekweneh and Bir Hassan, Mount Lebanon, hosting around 6,000 internally displaced persons combined. For many, these kits are a reminder of home, tradition and of the simple joy of marking a holiday despite everything they’ve endured. With this latest distribution, the total number of clothing kits provided has now surpassed 3,500, reaching thousands of children across Lebanon. These clothing kits were produced by young people enrolled in our sewing course as part of UNICEF's Learning to Earning program, implemented by Anera. @UNICEFLebanon
