When crisis hits, violence against women and girls often rises behind closed doors. For many girls, that includes the risk of forced marriage — taking away their safety, education, and future.
Through the “Sawa” project, implemented by Anera, communities in Akkar, North Lebanon are challenging these harmful practices head-on. The project trains influential men in the community to lead conversations with other men about gender based violence, with a primary focus on the long-term impact of forced early and child marriage.
By opening dialogue and raising awareness, these efforts help protect vulnerable girls and drive real change within communities.
