A good graduate should be: able, keen and quick to learn on the job. A good employer should have the awareness to tap into any graduate’s (read employee’s) potential.

To effectively interrogate and solve urban and urbanisation problems you need to be on your feet, not in car.

Clear and consistent communication are often a test of your true character and competence. You’ve to care enough to actually realise it. At institutional level it frames a culture while at individual level it could potentially nurture charisma.

The architecture (the building and how well it works) is a very key contributor to business promise and sustainability. Location of course and management or customer experience are others. Neither though, thrives in isolation.

One sure way of promoting silence is the absence of communication or poor communication altogether. Key attributes of communication include: timeliness, acknowledgment and useful feedback.

Architecture and architects have to deal with: 1. Everyone else believing they’re qualified to architect (as a verb). 2. Many who equate the value of architecture/ the architect to merely drawing - and with tech (and AI), it should be quite simple, even cheap(er).

A colleague of mine shared that for 10min this morning, they stood perplexed, watching kids being caned for arriving late for school. I recall how we too were caned whenever we arrived late - note, about 20 of us were always dropped off every morning. 🫤
