1/2 The end of an exciting & historic day @wabbey. 1. I gave @WAbbeyChoir choristers a well-deserved weekend off. Today (for the 1st time) all three services were sung by the Lay Vicars + 6 sopranos. Haydn Te Deum, Poulenc Mass, Messiaen & 3 mvts of Rachmaninoff Vespers. A feast!

Happy 80th birthday to the great Philip Moore! At @wabbey Evensong we sang his 'Hear my prayer, O heavenly Father.' It sets words by Charles Dickens, who is buried in Poets' Corner. Happy Birthday, Philip, and thank you for so many decades enriching the British Choral Tradition.
