Chess Improvement Tip Many club players and even masters regularly ask me how to improve. Here’s a perfect example. In the position below, the game is wild and chaotic—like two heavyweight boxers standing toe-to-toe, trading massive punches. If you choose to enter this kind of fight, you cannot flinch, hesitate, or slow down. You must commit fully and go straight for the knockout. Zhu Jiner had a promising position with Black against one of the greatest players of all time. However, she didn’t fully grasp the dynamic strengths and weaknesses of both sides. Instead of embracing the wild complications, she chose a safer, simpler path — a decision that proved to be a critical mistake. (I’m confident many other grandmasters would have struggled to understand this position as well.) Although she later had decent chances to hold, she couldn’t capitalize on them and eventually lost. If you want to improve your chess, take your time with this position. Try to find the best continuation for Black, especially the key ideas. Even if you use an engine, don’t just look at the moves — work hard to understand the very deep ideas behind them. Chess isn’t about memorizing lines. It’s about developing deep, genuine understanding. Simply posting one-move ‘solutions’ is not real training — it’s an absolute waste of your time. Good luck! ♟️ #ChessImprovement #ChessPunks

@Lordweb111 I hit 2000 a few times at blitz. Currently sitting 1950. Played a few 2000+ and none of them are playing main line theory. It's all side-line stuff if that

Biggest "the kids are fucked" moment I've had recently was buying a car Walked into the dealership, told them what I wanted and said I'd pay up-front. Expected them to be thrilled Instead they were horrified. Spent the next 20 minutes trying to get me to finance it at some absurd rate Got me curious so after I left I read about car sale profit models. Apparently most US dealerships make more financing now than from the cars themselves I was such a boomer I assumed they'd want CASH In reality they want your ETERNAL SLAVERY at 19% APR

@kramnikstudent "Freestyle" was a massive flop and didn't generate enough public interest to justify hosting the events. I don't think that I even finished an entire free style game, personally.

Surprised Magnus is still playing Classical chess. Feels like a bit of a step back from the trendy and more interesting Freestyle format - The pay might be good

Ayer cumplí uno de los grandes sueños de mi vida: llegar a esta posición. 50 años de estudio han servido para algo. Sé que es una ambición modesta, pero... ¿Cómo rematarías esta partida de forma elegante y rápida? Blancas juegan y ganan.

Hans Niemann reveals how much top chess players actually make “Top 3 player in the world you’re making around $1,000,000 a year depending on your endorsements” “A top 5 player is making $600,000 to $800,000 and a top 10 player depending on sponsors is making around $300,000” “Top 20 player in the world you’re lucky to make $100,000 to $150,000… top 40 player in the world and you’re lucky to make $100,000 a year. So there’s a huge, huge drop-off” “I think last year I won maybe $350,000 in prize money… but if I wasn’t blacklisted I’d be making much, much more” “I’ve had countries offer me ridiculous amounts of money to represent them”

Congrats to my student Robinson on this nice move! More than the move itself, it's about all the right choices he made to get to this position. Things we've been reinforcing over and over and he is already putting them together. Opposite color bishops in the middle game=⚠️

@groyplax @EmilSutovsky Maybe Magnus felt himself getting old and knew he wasn't going to be able to successfully defend his title within 1-3 more matches and he rather bow out than lose it by force in a match. Being a WCC means you need to defend it

Gukesh-Sindarov will be an epic clash. The youngest ever for the biggest Title in chess. Two amazing players. Two real fighters. Courageous. Energetic. Determined. Composed. Both rely heavily on their outstanding calculation ability. But there are significant differences of course. And the one who brings the betrer version of himself for the Match will prevail. In the coming week FIDE will be busy reviewing the options for the location. Dates are set at the end of November - first half of December. Question for the fans: Of course, India and/or Uzbekistan are two logical options. But if not there, where would you see it proper to be hosted?

An otherwise irrelevant IM teaching chess to wealthy kids in NYC gets boosted by chesscom and Nakamura into a major content creator. He then gets to build Chessly, and chesscom even promotes his books in their events. Nakamura doesn't get that same freedom.

@jasonjosephlee They probably used your offer as leverage to negotiate a better deal with other potential buyers during that 2 week period. If they couldn't do better they would go with you. If they can do better than you know what happens .

Broker tells us we can get this deal under contract for $17,000,000. We make an offer at $17,000,000. We wait two weeks with little to no response from him. Makes excuses for the seller being "slow." He calls me today and tells me that the seller decided to go with another buyer at $17,000,000. Love these types of brokers. Shop our offer and go with another buyer that they have worked with before.

MAGA X Times Daily News 🇺🇸
Casinos keep a log of card counters, this man identified himself when he entered the casino, he sits down at a blackjack table he’s playing two hands against the dealer and one other player and a shoe full of decks of cards (typically 6-8) the casino can and often changes shoes at random and as frequently as they want. So why do they call “card counting” against the rules ? Isn’t keeping track of the game what you’re supposed to do ? Should everyone be blindfolded to play blackjack ? A typical casino has dozens of games that collect massive amounts of revenue.
