#TRAFFIC Interstate 40 eastbound, Interstate 25 northbound and University in both directions at the Big I are shut down due to police activity.   The public is encouraged to avoid the area and seek an alternate route.

#BREAKING APD officers were involved in a shooting in the area of 98th St. and Central Ave. No officers were injured during the shooting. One person has been transported to the hospital. Media staging is on the west side of 98th St NW.

APD is looking for information about these two Kia Soul vehicles seen in the area at the time of Sunday's homicide where a 5-year-old girl was killed. Call 505-242-COPS or 505-843-STOP to provide an anonymous tip. This was Sunday around 6 a.m.

Drivers are advised to avoid I-25 south of I-40 & I-40 west of the Big I on Tuesday afternoon & Wednesday morning. Side streets may also be impacted. Please be patient during this time. There will be no parking allowed along the route for the motorcade. Parked cars will be towed.

APD released the identity of the man who shot an officer and was killed during an exchange of gunfire. The officer was treated for his injury. The deceased suspect, Emmanuel Galaviz Campos, was wanted on felony warrants and considered a person of interest for a recent homicide.

Chief Medina briefed the media about today’s shooting in which an officer was injured and the suspect was fatally shot. The suspect has a warrant and was a person of interest in a homicide investigation.

APD is searching for Chase Cuffie, 39, who is accused of fatally shooting another man as he confronted his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint. Cuffie is considered armed and dangerous.

Urgent Missing Person Alert: APD needs help locating Jim Willis who left his residence on July 7, 2023. He was last seen in his wife's 2017 silver Ford Expedition. Police believe he may be in danger. Please call 505-242-COPS if you have any information.

Westbound I-40 is shut down at Juan Tabo while police investigate a critical-injury crash. A pedestrian jumped from an overpass and may have been struck by a vehicle. The person was transported to the hospital.

@MayorKeller An arrest warrant has also been issued for Oliver Manning, 43. Anyone with information about Manning or other suspects for these crimes are urged to call 505-243-COPS.

Some of these suspects are now being charged with felonies under a new law supported by @MayorKeller and area legislators.

APD officers and detectives arrested three suspects today who are believed to be part of a group involved in retail theft is liquor and other merchandise at the Walgreens on Harper and other stores nearby.

APD officers arrested Laura Tapia, 30, for today's shooting in the parking lot at Coronado Mall. She shot a 22-year-old woman after attempting to take the woman's car.

APD detectives tracked down and arrested Dylan Wolfe for the 2021 murder of Edward Purviss at a motel. Wolfe's Internet search history showed he looked up "can a pillow muffle a 9mm" the day before he allegedly shot Purviss 4 times with a 9mm...through a pillow.

Officers are shutting down traffic to investigate a critical-injury crash involving a pedestrian that occurred in the area of Paseo del Norte and Eagle Ranch Rd NW. The incident is affecting traffic throughout the area, including westbound Paseo del Norte and Coors Blvd.

Deputy Chief Mike Smathers provided a briefing on the overnight officer-involved shooting at Louisiana and Lomas NE. A suspect who stabbed a man earlier and attempted to stab bystanders was shot and died at the scene. Two bystanders were injured by gunfire during the shooting.

APD homicide detectives charged Enrique Padilla, 19, for the fatal shooting on Friday during a dispute over seats at the Century Rio movie theater.
