The EFS&T dept. conducted a field visit led by the MD APEMCL, Dr. P. V. Chalapathi Rao, IFS to analyze the shoreline accretion along the coast of Krishna Estuary. The visit aimed to protect vulnerable mangroves with soft engg. interventions such as bio-shields, sand dunes, etc.

Bird of the Week #2: he Rose-ringed Parakeet, AP's state bird, holds a special place in the state's culture. It inspires poets & is even featured in ancient carvings symbolizing love! This bird plays a vital role in the ecosystem by aiding seed dispersal & promoting tree cover.

The EFS&T dept. organized a workshop on Feb 27'24 where state officials and industry reps participated. AP Govt. is initiating two pilot studies on GHG reduction and CCUS strategies to align with the climate targets submitted by GoI at COP 26 in line with global commitments.

Andhra Pradesh's coast shelters Vulnerable Olive Ridley Sea Turtles. In 2023, 4,32,000 hatchlings released from 4800 nesting sites, with Visakhapatnam contributing 53%. The state's initiatives ensure safety, recognizing the crucial role in maintaining ecological balance.
