We’re excited to announce several new administrative appointments from tonight’s School Board meeting! Congratulations to Babita Artabasy, the new principal of @APLetoHigh! Babita began her teaching career in California before moving to Florida in 2007, where she taught science and coached girls’ basketball. She joined HCPS in 2010 at Hillsborough High, teaching P.E. and health while coaching basketball and flag football. In 2015, she became an AP at Alonso High, then later at Leto, where she currently serves. We can’t wait to see you lead our Leto Falcons, Babita!

Next, we’d like to recognize our New Worlds Scholar Recipients! This program allows junior and senior students to tutor students in grades K-3! Big congratulations to our incredible students, Casey Ayres - @HCPSNewsomeHS, Rohan Morgan - @PlantHighSchool, and Luis Lopez - @APLetoHigh, for representing Hillsborough at the 2025 Sunshine State Scholars Conference in Orlando! 👏🎉 They joined over 100 of Florida’s top STEM students for two days of inspiration, innovation, and recognition. All three also earned 1-year college scholarships! We’re so proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see how they shape the future of STEM!

TRUE HEROES ❤️ This morning, we proudly celebrated @APLetoHigh's Teacher & Track Coach Lauren Palek and AP Scott Hazlett. Their quick actions last school year saved a student's life after he collapsed during track practice. Mrs. Palek was honored with the Lifesaving Award for Professional Responders, while Mr. Hazlett received the Certificate of Extraordinary Personal Action from the @RedCross.
