And then, naturally, zero credit/acknowledgement would've come back this weekend. All punishment, no reward.

@DragonNoodZ I mean, the article says the characters are fun archetypal caricatures that work well. But that the way Samus interacts with them sucks. I stand by that; the ending exacerbated all that for me, even! Why on earth do they care so much for so done who gives them nothing back?

I guess we’re supposed to be mad at this, but gotta tell you, doesn’t bother me. Metroid / Prime purist here and these lighthearted narrative moments are… fine. Because they’re moments. Not the whole experience. And the execution is actually pretty good.

@DragonNoodZ No insult intended, buddy. I just know what my intent was and that's a hell of a jump from some parenthesis. And I find it interesting you zeroed in on that rather than the following paranthesis about the squad's woman -- what separated the two?

@APZonerunner You wrote it in a way that came off as criticism using the parenthesis to call it out. Regardless of your intention that is how it reads to some. Im all for being corrected and listening to your point but if each of your replies comes with insults, go fuck yourself

@DragonNoodZ I'll take criticism on the chin but if you're gonna inject meaning that isn't there out of bad faith, some weird insecurity, or a simple lack of reading comprehension I will, naturally, rebuke that.

@DragonNoodZ @mattcasa I wasn't upset, but nice projection on your part. Unless you thought I was /also/ upset that one of them was a scarred old vet, one a robot, etc. I was literally just laying out how they deliberately fit established tropes so you can get to know (and like) them very quickly.

@DragonNoodZ @mattcasa Duke is cut from the same archetypal cloth as Barret Wallace, one of the greatest black characters in game history. He's fine. To read an article whose entire thesis is about how Samus is the problem, not the marines, and take that away -- like, please pal, turn your noodle on.

@DragonNoodZ @mattcasa Saying "These are broad sketches, caricatures. You know who these characters are the moment that you meet them", and noting those caricatures follow established tropes: (gruff veteran, tough black squaddie, nerdy engineer, young woman, robot) is not a criticism at all!
