Wall Street Journal's Kyle Smith has a very positive review of The Odyssey. I know we all dislike his political takes but his film reviews tend to be on the mark. I personally don't think much of Nolan's post-Inception work anyway so....this movie is likely going to be just a purchase-and-store thing for me, like Oppenheimer, which Smith calls "propulsively exciting or suspenseful." This movie seems like a typical contemporary Christopher Nolan fair. Technically supreme, visually spectacular, boring, plodding. Plot is probably largely absent outside of the core Odyssey narrative. But who knows. Again, Smith likes it.
