On June 9, Lt. Tim Gushing and Sgt. Michael Meeks presented to the Arkansas Trucking Association Maintenance & Technology Council and Safety Management Council Joint Meeting on Level 1 Inspections at the J.B. Hunt Training and Technology Center in Lowell.

This week, AHP joined forces with PHMSA, FMCSA, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The goal of this enforcement was to detect, correct, and deter illegal and/or improper hazmat shipments interstate and intrastate to and from Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri.

Today, Capt. John Lamb, Lt. Robert Garrett, and Lt. Andreas Pruitt completed Arkansas Leader Session XXXIV, a 40-hour training course, held by The Criminal Justice Institute and The Federal Bureau of Investigation. Congratulations.

On May 18, CPL Marc Winkler gave a presentation to Cintas in Fort Smith. CPL Winkler discussed expectations for operators during a Level 1 inspection and the differences between the Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 inspections. Thank you for the opportunity!

CPL Malcolm Cambron conducted a presentation to Heavy Equipment Academy in Bee Branch on May 21. He discussed permit regulations, load securement, and commercial drivers license. Thank you for the opportunity!

For the past three days, the Arkansas Highway Police took part in the CVSA International Roadcheck alongside officers across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This year’s focus was ELD tampering/falsification and cargo securement.

Julie Hart with Altrusa International of Little Rock stopped by to donate comfort items our officers can share with children at crash scenes and other challenging situations. We’re grateful for people like Julie who help us care for Arkansans in difficult moments.

Several of our officers received their 5-year service awards recently. PFC James Gilbert & PFC Brady Hanney received their 5-year service award from CPT Chad Heath. SGT Shufford Day received his 5-year service award from CPT Tyrone Dillard & LT Jaime Glanton.

Lt. Rogan Ross instructed a National Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Responder Training Program today at the AHP Headquarters in Little Rock. He discussed responder safety, safe and quick clearance, and the importance of prompt, reliable, interoperable communication.
