It’s Arkansas Flood Insurance Awareness Week, and floodplain managers from across the state are in Little Rock for the four-day Managing Floodplain Development Through the National Flood Insurance Program training.
Hosted by the Arkansas Department of Agriculture in partnership with the Arkansas Floodplain Management Association and with support from the FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency, this course equips local officials and community representatives with the knowledge and tools they need to manage development in flood-prone areas under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
Representatives from multiple agencies came together this morning to kick off both the training and Arkansas Flood Insurance Awareness Week, reinforcing a shared commitment to protecting Arkansas communities from flood risk.
