@RachelHYAu @TheWeissLab You can go above them and reach out to a department chair. Or go to the ombudsman’s office (if your university has one). It is unethical for them to take your paper, and they are not allowed to punish you for reporting them. But documentation of the situation would be required.

@TheWeissLab Thanks for the suggestion. I don’t think I will ask though. Need to protect my wellbeing at this point and not to contact them anymore.

Three months ago, I wanted to submit a manuscript, and PI said no. Now, I am on gap year, and they are submitting my paper. It’s my idea! I collected the data! I wrote 99% of that paper! All they have done was gave me a lab and the equipments to run the study. #phdlife #phdchat
