@boliver36 Dude never passes the ball and is a traffic cone on defense. Jase can be better than him already next year with a coach who doesn’t hate offense first players.

If this is true and we move from Suggs then move on from Wendell and AB too. They were both just as putrid vs Detroit. Drooling over AB “improvement “ year 3 cause first two years he was ass. Decent season and sucked in PO. Get me a real guard and C

Seems like OKC should be willing to move one of these good bench guards. They got a couple too many.

@FeelLikeN0thing @MagicHenryP If I am his agent - why would agree to anything lower than 30 mil a year? Suggs makes that. Quickley makes that. He probably thinks he will be better than them over the course of the next contract. I would rather trade him and keep Suggs to be honest.

@MagicHenryP 15-18 a year for me. He probably wants 20 but 2 bad years and 3rd year horrible playoffs. We gotta be serious

@Strayanmagicfan I am not sure that a Franz/Paolo PnR is that difficult to guard. They have similar physical profiles and aren’t shooting threats. You can just switch those actions, no advantage gained.

Hear me out. Franz becomes our Point guard. Jalen and Des on the perimeter/slashing. Paolo operates in the low block or running pnr's with Franz who has shown he can be a good lob passer. And the center... well I dont know about the center lol
Chris Janssen@ChrisJanssen

My 2 Cents On Jalen Suggs…. Just a quick disclaimer here in case anyone thinks I have some sort of an agenda… I’ve been a huge J.Suggs fan from day 1. I’ve got his jersey, I even took the time to make a highlight video of him (something I’ve only done for 2 players). Having said that, if I want the best for the future of this team, I have to be objective… and I’ve got several concerns: 1.) His shooting. 2.) His ability to be a pass-first, playmaking PG (our offense has to run through Paolo/Franz/Bane). 3.) His ball-handling. 4.) Even his on-ball defense against several guards this season beyond just the DET series has been lacking. 5.) His decision making (this includes bonehead fouls, lackadaisical passes where he just falls asleep or underestimates opponents and they get intercepted, and his often-attempted flashy/showboating plays that usually get blown up). 6.) His health… even though we got him back for a long stretch, he still seemed like the season took its toll on him & he was nowhere near the athlete we saw at earlier periods. Unfortunately, I’m not convinced this won’t always be an issue until he ultimately degrades. He’s got one speed… pedal to the metal, and his body will always take a beating as a result. 7.) His contract… need the production to start matching the $$$$, right now there’s a sizable disparity. —————— I hear the counter to moving on from him… that we need to see him under a new coach. Do we think a new coach can move the needle enough in all these areas? Or at least half of them? I’m not saying it’s impossible, I’m just saying we’re going on year 6, so forgive me if I’m a little skeptical. Do I think he can be an impactful player? Of course, I just don’t know that he can be what we need as a starting PG. You can’t put him at SG because we have Bane. The best spot for him at his current level of play would be 6th man but his contract does NOT warrant paying him to be a 6th man. I WANT him to improve in all these areas because I like the guy and I obv want Orlando to win. So if Orlando either decides to keep him or can’t find a suitor for his contract… then hopefully he has a very productive summer because his showing against Detroit was lower than sub-par and none of the negatives we saw from him were brand new. We need guys who can contribute meaningfully in the playoffs, especially from the starting PG. If you disagree with my take, that’s fine…just know we want the same thing (the Magic succeeding).

I think Paolo’s guys want Donovan in quick before he starts dreaming about the Knicks job too much, while Weltman and co probably want a longer drawn out process to evaluate coaches who are expected to be a part of deep playoff runs rn (Sean Sweeney, Micah Nori, etc)

Imagine a stretch 5 like Lauri opening up the paint.
Stanley Swanson @StanleySwanson0

I’ve done A LOT of digging since first hearing about this and NO “Stanley Swanson” isn’t a real source but I feel confident posting about this. The Orlando Magic (more so Jeff Weltman is a fan of) have been linked to Lauri Markkanen for several seasons now. -Orlando initially wanted Lauri in the trade for Vucevic but settled on WCJ and TWO picks. It made more sense for Orlando at that to go with the picks since Lauri was expiring and Weltman wanted assets for the rebuild and figured he could bring him to Orlando in the offseason(he went to Cleveland in a sign and trade so) . -Orlando then tried to get Lauri from the Jazz with a package that included JI, Cole Anthony and a first round pick.(pre Desmond bane trade). Utah said absolutely not lol. -Orlando then was tied with Markkanen THIS trade past deadline with a package that included FRANZ WAGNER. Now I don’t know if it was Utah asking or Orlando dangling Franz Wagner (I’m of the belief that it was Utah and that’s why Weltman was saying teams were asking for a core player in trades for role players) BUT I do believe that Weltman has an enormous amount of desire to get Lauri in and Orlando Magic uniform. As far as if Lauri fits this team, idk man, we probably won’t be able to get our hands on him either with how our cap works but it’s 100% the type of player Jeff Weltman wants. IMO if Jeff liked him so much we shoulda chose him before Jonathan Isaac but it is what it is. Like I said I’m not a source whatsoever this is just me doing some heavy digging around after I heard about the Franz/Utah trade online .

Stan Van Gundy actually fits very well this Magic team… I don’t think he wants to coach anymore… plus, I know time heals everything… does he wants to be in the same building as Martins on a daily basis?

@InthemindofCP They paid the tax when it was needed. They were patient through the rebuild. They let the front office do the job. They are probably disgusting people but they are okay nba owners. You can do much worse.

@DeanO_Lytics And Cain was the second best ergo give him a max contract. I mean I don’t even disagree but that’s a ridiculous stat taken out of context Goldsberry-style.
