I’ve really enjoyed hearing about research on the Western Australian flora at #ASBS2021 including today’s talks by @jobsonrw (Themeda: Poaceae) and @TaxonomyTim (Hibbertia: Dillenieceae) 📷KR Thiele

Just finished watching @Kelly_Shepherd's powerful keynote talk @ASBSmeet #ASBS2021 on managing work-life balance in science and I've never felt more heard! From a little ASBS ECR: thank you so much for sharing your story and bringing this discussion to our society 💚💚💚

Such a pleasure to chair a session of informative student and speed talks at #ASBS2021 including by botanical twitterati @rpodonnell_ (on a mint taxonomic complex in Australian Lamiaceae) and @CarlosLehnebach (at the heady interface of orchid taxonomy and conservation in NZ)

If we’re working at full capacity and something unexpected happens, it can suddenly become difficult to cope. So very proud of @KellyShepherd – bravely bringing her personal story to her keynote address at #ASBS2021 on managing mental health 🙌

Day 3 of #ASBS2021 starts with a though-provoking keynote by Kipiro Damas from the Lae National Herbarium about the current state of systematic botany in Papua New Guinea, raising many important, difficult questions on knowledge transfer

The keynote was followed by a three-session symposium on Papua New Guinea. This is a phenomenal achievement and perhaps a first in the history of our Society! Huge congrats to all the speakers and @ASBSmeet for pulling this together! 🇵🇬🇵🇬🇵🇬

Inspired by today’s keynote address by Prof. Wendy Nelson and some of the insights into her stellar career – case study after case study illustrating the importance of taxonomy (and voucher specimens!) to biosecurity and conservation efforts. Just fantastic #ASBS2021 #WomenInSTEM

Professor Wendy Nelson (@niwa_nz and @AucklandUni) is now officially receiving her 2020 Nancy Burbidge Medal from ASBS in a very touching celebration organised by her @Te_Papa colleagues in Wellington! #ASBS2021 @ASBSmeet

Very interesting stats from #ASBS2021 organisers: 235 registered participants from 7 countries, most from Australia (166), NZ (27), and PNG (25) 75 talks and 6 keynotes all running live and in a single session 36 students registered (we need to work better on this one!) @ASBSmeet
