While we love our Dragon, we've decided to give a new generation a chance to pick what mascot represents them best, and they've decided on the Gulf Shrimp!🦐 Our students wanted more of a connection to the Gulf Coast, and while our school may be small, we are mighty! The Presidential Scholars program recognizes some of our nation's most distinguished graduating seniors for academic success, leadership, and service to school and community. 🧑‍🔬S-T-E-M is F-U-N! ASMS students hosted a STEM Fair at Eichold-Mertz Magnet School of Math, Science and Technology! 🥽Second graders at Eichold-Mertz had an amazing time participating in experiments and activities that nurtured their curiosity through hands-on experiences the ASMS students provided. #NerdsRule

⭐ ASMS Seniors James Lott and Bryan Nguyen presented their Research Fellows Project in Huntsville at the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers Southeast Conference! There, they ran into ASMS Alum and ASMS Board Member Dr. Greg Bacon (Class of 1995), a fellow engineer and scholar, who chaired their session.🐉 🤩This now makes them PUBLISHED authors as high schoolers!! Their paper is titled: An Engineered System Concept for Early Detection of Dry-Type Transformer Failures.

The conference connects to the Peer Helpers Plus program we adopted at ASMS. ✈️🔧 THANK YOU AIRBUS! ASMS is proud to announce Airbus has approved $3000 in grant money that will go toward funding Spring Research Forum needs! Not only that, but students in our Intro to Engineering class had the incredible opportunity to hear directly from engineers at Airbus. The professionals shared about their day-to-day responsibilities, career paths, and what inspired them to pursue engineering.
