Seven A-State Agribusiness Club members toured NW Arkansas (Apr 16–18), visiting UA ag econ, law school, Walton College & Nat’l Ag Law Center. They met alumni at Tyson Foods, toured an aeroponic greenhouse, ending with Crystal Bridges & Walmart Museum.

CoA Junior Brittany Hirsch traveled with Dr. Rich to Albuquerque NM for the 2023 Annual American Society of Animal Science Conf July 16-20. Brittany presented her poster titled “Effect of Different Semen Extenders on Post-Thaw Characteristics of Caprine Semen” in the competition.

CoA alumna Amy Greenwalt Tallent was recently recognized as the 2023 Arkansas Master Gardener Agent of the Year for programs with 50 or fewer members. Amy is the Staff Chair of the Prairie County Cooperative Extension Service and lives near Hazen. Congratulations Amy!

Congrats, Dr. Jay Xu! The Arkansas Research Alliance (ARA) announced seven new members to the ARA Academy of Scholars & Fellows, including Dr. Jianfeng (Jay) Xu, research professor in the Arkansas Biosciences Institute (ABI) & College of Agriculture at Arkansas State University.

College of Agriculture agribusiness students Hannah Johns and Hannah Kimmer accompanied Professor Bert Greenwalt & the Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce to Washington D.C. April 25-27. The group met with Senator John Boozman, Senator Tom Cotton, and Congressman Rick Crawford.

Aayushi, Pausui & Syed presented a poster titled: Cover crops as a potential soil recovery tool after land leveling. Divya presented a poster titled: Evaluating the economic costs & benefits of using a winter cover crop mixture in a furrow-irrigated rice system. Divya placed 2nd!

Graduate students Divya Kandanool, Aayushi Jain, Pausuidaule, & Syed Hassan attended the Arkansas Discovery Farms Conference in Little Rock Feb 15-16 with their advisor, Dr. Steve Green. At the conference, the students participated in a research poster presentation contest.
