From a recent discussion and unveiling of our book From Dynasties To Democracy: Politics Caste and Power Struggles in Rajasthan at the India International Centre, New Delhi. A special thank you to Delhi for turning up in such strength. For authors, the feeling is overwhelming to see an engrossed hall packed with people so curious about Rajasthan -- its politics, contradictions, transitions, and stories beyond the familiar imagery of forts and royalty. The esteemed panelists, @seemay , @bhanwarmegh @akhilchaudhary & @AdityaMenon22 with their sharp political insight, lived experience, legal and constitutional perspective, journalistic depth, and a nuanced understanding of social change, made the discussion layered, engaging, and incredibly heartening. The audience with their inquisitive questions turned the discussion into a deeper reflection. The discussion touched upon Rajasthan’s shifting political landscape and caste equations to questions of gender, communal tensions, farmer movements, democracy, and the aspirations of young India -- the conversation travelled across histories, memories, and contemporary realities.
