HSI, @NOPDNews, @ATFNewOrleans & partner agencies made four felony arrests after an aggravated battery by shooting and narcotics investigation. Evidence seized related to the case included 7 firearms (one stolen), fentanyl, amphetamines, marijuana and over $8000 cash.

ATF’s SRT and SA’s from .@ATFNewOrleans Baton Rouge Field Office, along with @MDLAnews, @LAStatePolice, @BRPD, and @EBRDA, executed six simultaneous federal search warrants & several state arrest warrants at multiple residences in Baton Rouge for individuals wanted for firearm trafficking and trafficking large amounts of illegal narcotics in the Baton Rouge area.

.@ATFNewOrleans joined @USAO_WDLA, @ShreveportPD, & @LAStatePolice to announce that a grand jury handed up federal charges against two defendants related to the mass shooting in Shreveport. Charles Ford is a felon accused of supplying the firearm to mass murderer Shamar Elkins. Michael Mayence is accused of illegally possessing firearms after Elkins fled to his home. Elkins killed 8 children and injured 2 women last month. Both Ford & Mayence face up to 15 years in prison.

This operation reinforces ATF’s mission to prevent, reduce & solve firearm-related violence as a top priority to ensure public safety in our communities.

Today, DOJ and ATF announced 34 proposed and final rules to modernize outdated processes and streamline regulatory function, allowing the agency to focus more on willful violators and criminal actors, not inadvertent compliance mistakes by responsible owners and licensees. .@ATFNewOrleans joined @LAGovJeffLandry, @BRPD, @LAStatePolice, @EBRDA and local elected officials to update the community on one arrest in the shooting incident at the food court inside the Mall of Louisiana that killed one H.S. student and injured 5 others. Another individual is wanted. Five individuals are in custody. The investigation continues.

Special Agents from .@ATFNewOrleans, @USPIS_HQ, @LAStatePolice, processed several firearms and ammunition, in coordination with @USAO_WDLA, recovered during a federal search warrant at a residence in Bossier Parish of a person who is charged with illegally possessing firearms. This joint effort, led by ATF, through @USAO_WDLA, is in support of the ongoing investigation into the Shreveport mass shooting.

.@ATFNewOrleans joined @BRPD and @EBRDA to announce arrests of two suspects wanted in the 2022 cold case murder of 3-yr. old Devin Page who was killed by a stray bullet from a drive-by shooting in front of the home where he was sleeping in his bed. Using National Integrated Ballistics Information Network (NIBIN), social media investigations, interviews, & other investigative techniques, probable cause was established to arrest one suspect in Louisiana and the second suspect in California.

.@ATFNewOrleans Special Agents and Certified Fire Investigators, along with @NOPDNews, responded to a fire scene at the Tesla sales office where a suspected Molotov cocktail incendiary device was used in the early morning hours to start a fire at the front door.
