We have learned that an Atlanta-based activist was arrested by DHS and FBI yesterday around 6pm. Community leaders say this arrest is an attack on dissent, and call for his release. Charges are unknown. We stand ready to support all targets of political repression.

This is not the end of the RICO case, but it's a reminder that the State's campaign of repression is destined to fail. What happens next will decide whether the AG simply returns to the drawing board for the next round of attacks, or is finally held accountable for their abuses.

The Cop City RICO is in crisis. Judge Farmer plans to throw out the bulk of the case on the reasoning that the Georgia Attorney General's office was not invited by the Fulton DA (Fani Willis) to bring the case, so it lacks constitutional authority to prosecute.

Pre-trial motions were heard today for the Cop City RICO case. Prosecutors showed that they lack evidence, and worse - they haven't even bothered to build a coherent argument over the past two years. Political prosecutions are about suppressing protest, not winning trials.

...the authorities have ignored due process and constitutional rights in their rush to shut down dissent. While it's good to see this recognized now, we are still waiting for justice for the many other violations which all Cop City defendants still face.

From the start, the campaign to kill the Stop Cop City movement has been a series of abuses of the legal system to gain "tactical advantage" against people protesting powerful interests. From police brutality to unlawful arrests to bogus indictments to punitive bond conditions...

Over two years ago, Jamie Marsicano was arrested and charged with "domestic terrorism" because of their participation in protests against Cop City. Today those charges have been dismissed. While the RICO case still stands, this is a telling victory in the larger fight.

As the result of many suits showing a pattern of misconduct, courts are beginning to acknowledge the existence of an institutional "Cop City Policy" dictating targeted repression of activists. This creates institutional legal liability for APD, GSP, Atlanta and GA governments.

Trial is scheduled to begin tomorrow for Ayla King, 1 of 61 defendants in the RICO case brought by the GA Attorney General to suppress protests against Cop City. The verdict will set the stage for all Cop City defendants, and for the rights of protesters everywhere going forward.
